Welcome to this month’s edition of One Kit – Five (or so) ways.  We try to show you how versatile our designer’s kits are and how they can be used to suit a variety of styles!  First, I have a confession to make.  I have become a bit obsessed with Jennifer Labre Designs.  I admit that I’m a sucker for hyperrealistic kits and Jenn’s kits often have that feel to them.  They are usually rich with colors and have a lot of jewel and earth tones.  So, when she came out with her latest full kit “Enchanted Memories”, I drooled over it.

Now, I don’t have a girl!  My boy, though he did used to like Tinkerbell when he was little, has renounced all things pink, purple, and princess.  But those teal and dark papers…those stars!!!  It’s a beautiful kit.  So when I was thinking about what kit to use for the feature this month, I thought this might be a good kit to use.  We could show the girly side of it and the nongirly side!  (Plus, it gave me a reason to get the kit!!)  One thing that I found interesting, was that several people decided to do two layouts this time…just because they could do a lot with it!

So without any more of me wasting your time, here is what the blog team and the other Cheery-Os came up with!

“Lately I have really been inspired by large photo layouts. I also have been trying to learn my camera (I call it “the beast) better..using the settings and getting completely off AUTO….this doesn’t come easy for me at all…but I am learning…and I find that the photos I like the most are the close up shots…. and I have also fallen in love with the slightly messy look as well…those were all things I was shooting for here in this layout. ”

“My first impulse was to use it to scrap a little princess but I wanted to see how I could use it for some of my holiday pics and I was pleasantly surprised!  but then I had to use it again to play with all of the girly stuff for my sister’s three granddaugters with their cousins!”

Sally made two as well:

“I am not a purple girlie at all, so I knew I’d be using mostly teal as my monochromatic color scheme. I loved these wild pictures of my family and used a piece of digipaper as a mat for them. I knew I wanted to use a bunch of pictures, so I used a grid-style form for them. Love!  Because I didn’t really focus on the girlie part of this kit, I wanted to do another LO with a fun princess-y feel. Sticking with the teal color scheme, I scrapped a picture of my daughter in her beautiful gala gown! sorry, purple girlies!! I am loving Jennifer’s metal elements…so fun! and I think they accentuate Cora’s fun picture well!”

“Once I unzipped the kit I looked at all of the pieces inside and was drawn to the purple “dream” sticker, so I immediately placed that on the page because I knew I had a photo of DD sleeping that would work perfectly. The rest of the pieces fell into place pretty easily. I chose the dark bg paper with the pretty butterflies as my bg and decided to create a pretty bling border. I really liked the ornate frame and decided to clip one of the gorgeous patterned papers to it to include more purple on the page. Since the bg was patterned I didn’t feel the need to add a lot of ellies to the page and so I just added a few things and resized them to fit the mood of the page.”

And Audrey’s:

“I know I can’t use those templates with lots of clusters (especially with tons of flowers) on! I admire those who do but it’s not my style. I’m not a flower person and as a paper scrapper I find it hard to use flowers. As digi, same applies. Besides, having 2 boys, there is a certain limit how much flowers I can put on their pages!   I much prefer to use simple templates and layer on stuff by myself!”

“As I described last month, my scrapping process is to work through the photos of an event, mixing up kits for various challenges and Creative Team assignments. So my driver is my photos. Usually current photos. This is one of my favorite photos from my vacation at the beach for the 4th of July. I looked through this huge kit of Jenn’s for dark and shiny things, and found plenty to support the mood of the moonlit beach.  I like to use a large photo, and just added a mask and some simple brushwork to blend the edges, adding lace, bling and sparkles to further soften and enhance. The background is a combination of four different papers to get a starry effect, but not too bold.  In keeping with the mood I used one of my favorite fonts, Pristina, backed by a tag from the kit. A shiny brad repeated in a triangle holds everything in place.”

So there you have it!  Tons of amazing ways to use this gorgeous kit by Jennifer Labre.  Find a kit that you didn’t think would fit your style and, as Tim Gunn would say, make it work!
