We have just returned from a quick trip to Brunei to celebrate 20 years together. Sightseeing and no kids - simply perfect! When did you guys last do something special - no matter how big or small - just the two of you?

Does going to the Dr and getting our blood drawn together count? :floorlaugh:
Probably not, although we did joke that it was a "date."
The last time that we went anywhere "special" was to Jamaica to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary. Which was--- *gulp* -- 20 years ago. We have to have gone out to dinner or *something* just the two of us- but I can't think of anything. We went out to lunch last September. DD was taking her SW licensing exam and we dropped her off and went to Chili's while we waited. Does that count? LOL

We are going to lunch and the beach today, just the two of us. Lunch is along the ocean and then we will head to one of our favorite beaches. It's Brian's 60th birthday so that's what he has requested for the day. (We took the kids with us Friday night for his family celebration and then I made a big meal for Saturday night.) The last time that we really went somewhere with just the two of us was last October when we did a road trip back to Iowa...stopping along the way to see friends and family. Hadn't done anything like that since pre-kids.

In January, I had an amazing evening at Pinot's Palette (Liberty Station, San Diego) with my daughter. Under guidance we painted a picture on a canvas and were able to enjoy a glass of wine. Motto of the evening: wine and paint. I really enjoyed this beautiful time with my daughter (haven't had that in years).

Oh gee, I can't remember. When you've been married for 100 years, it all runs together. I'm just kidding - maybe not. :rotfl: We've done SO many wonderful and special things in our many years of marriage and the things that stand out are our trip to Germany and Austria as well as our three trips to Jamaica. We've been to Puerto Rico, and I loved our trips to the wine country in California. We also loved our drive from San Diego Ca to San Fransisco, even if we did almost get involved in a 100 pile-up. That was really frightening. That was the trip we got to go on the Queen Mary.

We used to take special week-end trips to various locations that gave us so many wonderful memories.

I subscibe to The Dahli Llama's philosophy: Live a full and rich life so that you can enjoy it all over again when you get old.

lol... it sure does... the longer we stay we together (and the older we get) the more the definition of a date changes... going to the Dr together and talking health issues is all part of the journey called life... we had our yearly checkup a few weeks ago and have been talking cholesterol and heart rate over a glass of wine ever since...

This sounds like the perfect way to spend one's 60th birthday. My hubby's 60 is coming up in a couple of months, and as always, he 'doesn't need anything' and doesn't know what he wants to do...

Oh, I would LOVE to go somewhere like this with each of my kids... once they are out of their teenage haze, that is... lol

We haven't done anything big in a long, long time. Pre-covid anyway. We frequently go for drives in the convertible though :)

We had our Alaska cruise last August. We want to go somewhere this year or next for sure but no idea yet where we'll go.
