Okay, here's the rub - it cannot be a human. Want to see what mine "best gift ever" was? Before I show you pictures, WAY back in 2016, my daughter called me up and asked me if we wanted a dog. We had just lost our beloved Lab, Sam and I said "No more dogs, UNLESS it's a Poodle or a Labradoodle". I was so over cleaning up the dog hair. Okay, back to the phone call. They had bought a Labradoodle puppy a few ,months ago and their "situation" had changed and they didn't feel like they could give "Daisy" the best life. Of course, I said "Yes".

SO, I was walking Daisy today and thinking what a companion and a part of our lives she has been, so I decided to post this.

Here's my "baby" Doodle - Daisy and a recent picture. She hasn't really changed much, except she weights 50 pounds now.

Ahhh look at sweet Daisy as a baby!!! It would be so hard to say what my best gift was. Probably the minivan my dad brought to me way back when my kids were little. I wanted Stow N Go seating so I could easily shift and change if I needed more storage or seats. I also really wanted his oak computer desk. He bought the used van, loaded the desk and drove it to me, from AZ to AK in March, horrible weather for driving that far. (If we were talking people, would be God, husband, kids, SIL and grands. :love: )

Ohhhhh, that was two gifts in one, wasn't it? The desk IN the minivan. Your dad must have been quite a guy.
 
Your Daisy is soooo adorable, Cheryl. I have severe sensitivities to animals, so I can't have a pet, or else I'd be sharing photos of three or four here. I would have to agree with Vicky, the greatest gift I've ever received, is my salvation. ♥
 
I love the little gifts you get, when you realize that the person giving you the gift really has thought of you. Like when a friend found a coffee mug at a thrift store with a unicorn on. Knowing I love unicorns she bought it for me. Or like this week, when I told a friend in an e-mail that life is rough now, with the state of the world, and that all I could do was to escape into books. A couple of days later, I received two books in the mail.

Tiny gifts given with love and intention, that's what I love the most.

Nope, not Gary, even if humans were allowed in Cheryl's rule. :rotfl:
The sweet and often insane (literally-- not in her right mind, she was on doggie prozac for severe separation anxiety) puppy was my birthday gift and she truly was my soul mate. She knew me, connected to me like no other pet I have had. Better than most humans too. I miss her so much still and she's been gone for many years.

Y'all are still so cute! I recently saw a photo of the two of you at your daughter's wedding. Not sure where I saw it around here, maybe you scrapped it, and it's adorable. My hubby was my soulmate too, and I miss him every single day. Treasure every moment you have with those you love. ♥

Awwwww, Chris. I KNOW you miss your 4-legged baby so much. You follow "my rules". I can't even think of the time when Daisy leaves me. Thanks for sharing this sweet picture. :brokenheart::brokenheart::heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred:

Thank you!!! Yeah, that was on a page I scrapped for the Big Photo Challenge. It is one of my favorite photos of us. I love that man even if he makes me a little :crazy: :love:
