What gift is the best or the worst that you ever received?

When I was in elementary school, I was so embarrassed when I opened my gift at the classroom Christmas party! It was a pair of ruffled underwear! Before the end of the day, I wrapped them in paper towels and threw them in the trash. I sure wasn't about to get on the school bus with them!

As an elementary teacher, the funniest gift I got was from a kindergartener. I thanked her for a gift and she said "My mom didn't need it anymore"! :). That shows you that kids repeat what they hear! I loved the gift and the thought behind it.

From my father-in-law and his 2nd wife... a pair of blue woolen gloves and stockings, bought at the flea market - the others had received gold jewelry... I understood the message...my husband has decided that we will never go again

That is so sad! I am sorry this happened as I know it was probably hurtful to you. I am so glad your husband is kind and loving and is protecting you from being put in this position again!

I've not ever rec'd a bad gift, maybe one I didn't care much about but not terrible. One of the best gifts I ever got was tickets to Elton John's Farewell Tour. My daughter got them for us for Xmas but we had to wait until Oct to go. It was amazing.

I hadn't been to a concert in probably 15 years or so, plus it was his farewell tour, he's done performing now, so this was extra special. I'm so glad I got to go.

We visited a member of my husband's family and they had forgotten it was my birthday so they carefully wrapped up a tea towel in nice wrapping paper. It was a well-used tea towel ... I tried to thank graciously but not sure I managed to be very convincing ;)

Best present was a book that my husband ordered from England about the artwork and design process of one of my favourite printmakers, and I didn't know he even knew I liked her. We now know each other's taste very well. It was the first birthday after we had effectively remarried (each other!) so very special. Best Christmas present was a gorgeous leaf pendant necklace that same year, which I wear all the time.

Ohhhh @EvelynD2 !!! Bless your heart! I agree, I would have done the same thing. How odd to give such a gift!! Funny memory now though, isn't it?!
Worst gift? Not sure. But I do know that a newly married man can make some poor gifting choices. Early in our marriage I got a terry bathrobe that was HIS size. Hmmm And another year I got a toaster oven. No thank you! LOL!!

Best gift- We've been gifted cars, new set of tires, tickets to fly internationally. But the best gift was God reuniting our family after 10 horrendous months of "no contact" estrangement (including the 3 grands). Those months nearly killed the two of us- quite literally. But we got what we prayed for- a softening of hearts and healing of them too, and our family is now closer and more joyful than ever before. I dearly love our DIL and family. Yes. that is the best gift ever. #kiss3Of course , that would never have been possible without The Gift - the One we celebrate at Christmas time.Christmas Tree

I don't get surprised very often, but this year, when I was in Florida for 3 weeks in November, I told my husband that i REALLY missed the palm trees.

When I got home, he had gotten me a lighted, artificial palm tree that's SO pretty - it has two "stalks" on it and LED lights wrapped around the trunks and out of the fronds. That's the way they decorate the palm trees there.

Amanda, I am so glad that your family has been restored! That is such a wonderful gift! I am so glad that God worked out all of the obstacles that were standing in the way of your family being reunited! I also am so thankful to the One we celebrate Christmas for!

Oh, Lynn! How could you keep a straight face when you opened the tea towel?! I don't have a poker face so I would not have been able to pull that off! :). What wonderful gifts you received from your husband! It is most special because he knows what is dear to your heart and wants to make you happy.
