What do you want...

I don't know what I want either, Olga. I have everything I could ever want (let alone need). My granddaughter mentioned the other day that she was thinking about getting me a "Roomba" one of those little vacuums that runs on it's own. We were laughing about how it could "know" to get in and out of all my "stuff" like I have bar stools, and 4 chairs around my table in the kitchen. I don't know - I've looked into these and am not sure they would really work for me. I could see my cat freaking out if he saw that thing coming at him. :lol23::lol23:

I'm thinking of one of those Oura Rings - but then I wonder why I need a ring and a phone to tell me how I feel. I'm trying to reduce phone use. So I don't know - I don't really need anything. Maybe some peace and quiet and a clean pair of socks?

You could train your cat to ride it!
Oh for sure - you haven't met my cat. He's a cool guy, but he does what he wants to do. Hey, maybe I COULD train him to ride it. I've trained him to do lots of other things. That would be "social media worthy". :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

I just got one of my granddaughters one of those blankets with the arms in them - a snuggy? It's black and red plaid. Early Christmas shopping. :xmas4::xmas7:

Oh yeah, I want hexclad knives!!!! goofysmile1
I am finding at my age I like a gift certificate for dinners out. Something I dont have to cook. Or amazon card for kindle books. I also love pampered chef's scissors and they disappear so I told my kids (again) I want more as we went from 6 pair to 2. Where oh where do they go? Flannel shirts. Wool sweaters. But mostly, I want hexclad butcher knife. Bread knife but first the butcher. Also chocolate, the good kind. Ghirardelli dark with sea salt caramel.

I was thinking about this yesterday and "Start Christmas Ideas" was on my To-Do List. (Nevermind that it got completely ignored LOL)
I asked my DS for an Instant Pot Air Fryer lid. He got me an IP last year and they make separate air fryer lids so that's a biggie. I am also asking for a new computer chair. I asked for one last year but no one got it for me and mine is literally falling apart. Other things I need are more wool socks and maybe another pair of hiking boots.

DH and I do not buy for Christmas, unless we happen to need something. We just buy what we need throughout the year.

What a relatable thread! I spent years saying 'I don't want anything' but it seems DH interpreted that as 'I don't care' so am trying to be better about allowing people to treat me, even though it's hard as I too buy what I need when I need it (after researching the best and most economical …).

I am also getting a trip to Japan for my birthday in January so I feel that's enough! Not to mention, we are leaving straight for the airport to Japan after Christmas with my family so anything would need to go in the suitcase and come with us!

But maybe I'll have to think of a list too so I have something to unwrap and he can show my family he did actually get me a present LOL - although it's not easy as the island we live on has limited shops and if he orders online I'm the one that will always meets the courier etc. :p

Oooohhhh ask for things you want/need for the trip!!! Multi plug power strip and converter if they use different power amps. New clothes to take on the trip. Fun travel items, books, sunglasses, lipgloss/chapstick. Slippers just for travel. Neck pillow for plane. I would totally ask for travel items you can use on your trip. What a fun trip!

Tracy, I love your approach to gifts... it's not about needing something - we all have all we need, but wanting something that you might not necessarily buy because it's not essential, expensive or frivolous... giving gifts for Xmas and birthday is not about satisfying a need, it's about bringing joy to the person you love. Like a box of expensive chocolates you wouldn't normally buy but would secretly love to try. The funny thing, this is how I approach other people's gifts, but when it comes to my own gift, I don't know what to ask for... In our family, we always give gifts for Christmas, several wrapped bundles under the tree... just for the sake of wonder and surprise... my husband travels a lot for work, so when I find a box of tea from across the world, it's not about the tea, but the fact that he thought about me when he saw it.

Trip to Japan sounds wonderful. I know I could find a dinner in a fancy restaurant with a view over Tokyo or some Japanese massage at the hotel under the tree. Gifts are not about what we need... it's about what we want. It's a good thing you are trying to give DH the opportunity to treat you, show others that he loves you and enjoy knowing he made you smile.

Isn't it funny, that I asked what you WANT and most people answer they don't NEED anything?
Isn't that the truth?? I went back to your first post and you specifically said "want." Meanwhile, we all basically said that we didn't need anything or listed things we did "need."

I want the air fryer IP lid but the chair and socks-- those I need. Funny how it gets tangled up in your mind
