What are your scrapbook trends?

There are lots of "trend reports" at this time of year, describing what's going out of style and what new trends to look for in 2026.

Which got me curious: what are YOUR scrapbook trends? There are no right or wrong answers here - just your answers. What did you love in 2025 that you're letting go of now? And what do you think your trends are going to be in 2026?

Your trends can be about anything: colors, your photos, design trends, your style -- anything at all! They could be your personal trends or, if you'd rather, they could be about trends you see in the digi scrap industry.

I'll go first...

In 2025, I noticed that I purchased a bunch of kits because I really liked the colors, or because I really liked some of the elements. I love shiny metal things, moons and stars, and almost anything with wings. I've been known to buy a kit just because I wanted one butterfly or a beautiful moon. But, I've found that I don't always use those kits, and sometimes that element that I just had to have? Well, it doesn't necessarily go with things I have from other kits. So I'm choosing to let go of this particular habit of grabbing up kits willy nilly.

In 2026, what's trending for me is planning what I want to do with a kit BEFORE I buy it. I'm spending some time making thumbnail sketches of one or two layouts, really thinking through how I'd use the kit, what photos I'd choose, and which elements I will actually use. By the time I do a couple of these thumbnail sketches - or fail to get two! - I have a much better idea of how a kit will fit into my world and whether I'll love it as much as I hope I will.

Now it's your turn! I'm curious ... what's trending for YOU?

I keep saying that I am going to pre-plan my layouts but I never do. The way I describe my scrapping trend would be nostalgic and vintage with a healthy dose of art journalling!

That's cool, Susie! I wish I did more art journaling types of layouts. Hmmm... Something to put on my to-do list for when I have some time! :multitasking:

Such an interesting question. I have always been a "memory keeper" with my scrapping. If there wasn't a photo that brought back a memory, I didn't really have a reason to scrap it. Even with challenges, I tried to make it a meaningful layout. I find now that I might have a little more time to concentrate on the artistic part of the scrapping. The frustrating part of that is that I haven't scrapped in so long that I really need to re-learn so many things.

I don't do many art journaling layouts and I need to try that out a little more. I need to challenge myself to do more lifts as I try to adopt new styles! Again, this is just a great question Anne...really made me think.

I don't think I could pinpoint a specific trend, more of a mish-mosh of a bunch of different styles.
I lean toward mostly AJ pages, some fantasy pages, and some memory-keeper types. If I am using a photo, 99.% it is a personal one. I have a hard time scrapping with stock or AI photos-- there isn't that connection that I need.

One thing I did notice with my past year's pages is that my preferred color palette turned to mostly neutrals, with muted greens and blues. I have a few LOs with "color" -- a purple page sticks out like a sore thumb LOL

Hi, Chris! I love that you like having a personal connection or interest in what you're creating.

I noticed that I'm using more neutrals in my creations, too. I wonder why? Do you have any ideas? Do you think it might be because there's so much going on in the world, and our eye just needs a place to rest or we need a place to rest?
