yikes the month is over this weekend. But a new one starts and I get to have a vacation- loving that idea. Lots to do this weekend, to prepare for house sitters and being gone from work. Sunny out today so lawn should get mowed and lawn swing that the wind blew over should get picked up. I hope to go to Kingwood today- it will be crazy there, but I want to buy some trees for my yard. I have pines and two bradford pears, but no real pretty fall color trees. Just found out today that my husbands sister is battling pancreatic cancer- not good and she lives far away.

Good morning Laurie and everyone!
I can't believe how fast April went. Gary's b-day is May 3, and it always sneaks up on me too fast!

Scott and I are presenting at a Lyme forum again. Tomorrow we are going to be having a backyard get together with my next door neighbors which is always fun.

xoxo!!

Laurie- I am so sorry to her about your SIL. I hope that she wins this battle.
yay for nice weather- we had a *gorgeous* day here yesterday. I worked outside for MIl for 2 hours yesterday and it was so nice. Hope that you get to enjoy your day and that the stores aren't too crazy.

Hi ladies!!!! Hope you all are going to have a fabulous weekend!!! I am about to hit the shower...Cameran's opening day ceremony for baseball is this morning and right afterwards, he has his first game of the season!! It's the only Saturday game :der: ALL of his other games are during the week at 6 pm....talk about rushing the working people!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of kids are going to be late for these games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sharon was fussing like mad over this and she said "...not all parents have a NANA that can help out like I do."

Mike has been home all week....and we did a small amount of yard work yesterday....but not like we usually do on his Spring vacation....some due to me not feeling up to par...but mostly due to weather...we had tornadoes and storms all week around here (tornadoes have killed about 15 people within two hours from here over the last two weeks. So much damage!!! None has been right here in our communtity....but so close to us!!!!

Okay....cup of coffee and in the shower!!!!!!!!!!!!! See you ladies tonight!!!

laurie- I vacuumed out my car last week- all of the gravel from the icy roads seems to collect under the mats. I heard on the news yesterday that the steering wheel of the avg car has either 40 or 400 times more bacteria than a toilet seat! :hurt:
I decided that I am bringing wipes in the car and will clean up while I am waiting at the bus stop or whatever.

I also saw online a satellite image of the tornadoes over two days or so. Crazy to see how the fronts were just battling like that.

yes I am a news/weather dork.

Aw, helen- how fun!!!

Diane- that is way faster than most Catholic weddings around here LOL

Clara- how was your wedding play date? How cute!
I don't know how people who live in tornado areas do it. Our severe weather is mainly blizzards/hurricanes and that give so much warning.
The kids had to close/lock windows, pulls blinds and sit in the center of the classrooms, similar to what they do for 911 drills and Active shooter drills, except for those they sit on the floor against the walls.
A bunch of people I knew took the warning very seriously- went into their basements, under tables etc. I guess I was pretty stupid, I kept an eye on the trees, and figured if they stared blowing around, I'd do downstairs. That's a jersey Girl for you, we're used to a lot of hot air blowing around (just look at Donald trump LOL)

Trudy- Were you able to see the whole wedding eventually? I think I was one of the only people who didn't watch it. I tend to be out of the loop on that kind of stuff. However, i was getting a kick out of seeing some of the photos online-- the hats were fun to check out. Suzy Bluesy's is the best, by far!!!

My back/hip is better. It still hurts but it is 'deal-able." TY for asking!

Hi kristy!

I do feel much more rested!!! I am back to a normal 6 or 7 hours a night now!! LOL

So we ended up at Opening Ceremonies and then he had a game...it was about 1 before we got away from there...we stopped for lunch and was home around 2....then....................................... LET THE WORK BEGIN!!!! Mike pressured washed the deck (4 hour job) and did the normal yard work..mowing and such...and I did normal housework..vacuum, bathrooms and then evolved into the beginning of my Spring Cleaning!!! We just stopped a few minutes ago....I managed to clean all the light fixtures and ceiling fans and some windows on the one end of the upstairs....I hope to keep it up and get a true blue good old fashioned Spring Cleaning done on my whole house over the next couple of months!!!!

But.............I am wiped out now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Laurie----- sooooooooooo jealous!!!! I haven't bought new plants in ages, I try to split up stuff that has naturalized or I grab new growth from my MIL.
What did you get???

nana- pace yourself!!! (hee hee... pot, meet kettle)
I am cleaning this morning here too, then off to my neighbors later for an early dinner.

I have to figure out out to pace myself too. I have a really busy week, plus a big b-day/mother's day get together here on Sat.

Hi kristy! Happy May Day!

Nana- mr gorgeous loves a manicured lawn and flowers all about- we are slowly buying perennials and under our pine trees I plant impatiens in pots attached to the ground with spikes so they don't blow away! We had 3 rhododendrons not make it through the winter and he picked out 3 rose bushes. I found a concord grape to grow up the side of the dog's pen- mr gorgeous loves concord grapes, and I bought tomatoes to grow for sauce again. Next week, I will plant the green beans for eating and freezing. No summer travel this year, so I can garden and harvest.

Laurie.....sounds GORGEOUS!!! and YUMMO on the garden...we have no room for one here...my son-in-law does one for me!! He loves to garden but won't eat it...he is a HORRIBLE eater!!!! So cucumbers, tomatoes and beans for me...lots of them!!!! and corn too!!!

Chris...uuuhhhmmm....I mean KETTLE.. :pound: I hear ya sweetie...but you know...you get these bursts of energy...you just gotta go with it!!!! I am hoping the sense of urgency to get it all cleaned up stays with me...maybe with just Savannah here for the next several weeks (until Cameran is out of school) I can get some things done...HAHAHA...yeah...maybe when she is napping...she does nap for 3 hours every day now!!!

All that cleaning overhead has my arms good and sore this morning...I woke up at 2 am (some of you girls abroad may have seen me online for a few minutes) and had to get some ibruprofen..and I could not sleep..so I was up for two hours...watched a Lifetime movie :)

Hello everyone -- I wrote a long introductory post over in the "Introduce Yourself" topic, but was encouraged to post here where all the social activities are going on.

@LaurieW - I don't want my yard to be landscaped and manicured. We bought 2 acres which had previously been grazing land. So we just let the native grass come back and we keep it {mostly} mowed. There is about 1/2 acre at the back of the property that I'm letting go completely natural. Eventually, I'll mow the grass down, leaving the cactus and thistles to show off.

@hondachic - I don't garden. Though I have plenty of space to put one in, I really don't like taking care of the garden. Like you, however, I love eating what comes out of the garden, but I don't have anyone to grow one for me. Hmmm... I wonder if I could pay a neighbor teen to put in a garden in my yard and tend it for me. That's a thought!

Hubby and I are empty nesters. Our kids live within an hour of us so we see them every week or so. My two sons have made me a grandmother twice over, so I'm busy scrapping pictures of our two little people. I'm also digging out really old pictures and scanning them. My original thought was to make some "Then and Now" and "Just like his Daddy" pages. But I'm getting motivated to scrap some of our travels and other events from when the kids were small.

I'm not getting any scrapping done this weekend, though. Yesterday I attended the annual meeting of TXGenWeb volunteers. And today I'm just being lazy! Weather here is stormy -- we just came out from the severe thunderstorm warnings. Since it looks at least a lull in the rain, we're going to head out to find some lunch.
