That is some combination! I think you're right about his eventual size! You better stock up on dog food!

Oh boy, Evelyn. He IS going to be a big boy. We have a Great Pyrenes that "visits" us from a neighboring farm and he's a huge dog, but so gentle.

He had the sweetest temperament when we saw him at the dog shelter. I fell in love with him and told Tod we had to have him. His mother and four siblings had been adopted already. He was the last of his family left. He was in the very last kennel at the end of a long hall of dogs. I told Tod that God had saved him for us to adopt!:heartpumpred:

It sounds like a great mix and he will be a slightly bigger dog. :walkingdog:
Thank you! My cousin, Jorgan, had a German Shepherd named, Rolf. He was such a wonderful dog! I think our Charlie had parents with good genes. He is so sweet and so smart!

Oh yeah, he is gonna a big one and probably pretty darn fluffy!
Give him some belly rubs from me!
He is so soft! I think he gets his soft and fluffy fur from his dad but he looks like his mom! And I will give him a belly rub from you! He LOVES his belly rubbed!:walkingdog:

Well, we knew Charlie's mom was a German Shepherd so it was no surprise to find out he is 51% GSD. We found out that he is also 47% Great Pyrenees, 2% Anatolian Shepherd and 1% American Husky! He was almost 47 pounds at his checkup at 23 weeks old. We are thinking he is going to be a big boy!:walkingdog:
Have you picked out a saddle yet??? I met one of my scrapping friends IRL this summer which was VERY cool and they have a purebred German Shepherd, from Germany, and I have NEVER seen a German shepherd that big, he was like a small pony. I don't think he cared for my outfit, or me in general LOL, because he kept barking at me. They said he's a narcissist, it's all about him, and if you aren't, giving him attention he WILL ask for it. Honestly I'm terrified of big dog, bad experience, but he wasn't scary, he was just loud. I think he would have been scary if they hadn't been holding him. He could have easily tipped me over and I'm no Twiggy. I love Charlie's bloodline though, there are some fantastic breeds in that boy. Can't wait to watch him grow in your layouts.

Wow! It sounds like your friend had a dog like my cousin in Germany. His was also a German Shepherd and was very big. Or course, I was a child when I lived there so maybe he seemed so big because I was little! :floorlaugh: I do know that some German Shepherds are really big. Our friends here in Tennessee had a very big GSD. She was a sweet dog. Charlie can be a barker when he is looking out the window or out the fence. I guess he is guarding his territory! I will try to scrap some photos of him soon. He is growing so fast!

OH my goodness.....he sounds SO wonderful and YAY that you guys adopted him as the very last one...that is super special in my mind :lovey3: I DO love dogs, as much as cats, but having to take them out to go potty, and the begging faces, it gets to me. A breed that I DO also love are pit bulls....where we live in this tiny town full of Southern peeps and wild attitudes, I have gotten to know quite a few, and they are the biggest love bugs...once they know you aren't trying to do something nefarious, and you pet them, SWEET as can be :lovey3:

He is pretty sweet! One thing we did when we first moved in is to install a storm door that has a doggy door built into the bottom of the door. This way, the pups can go in and out as they wish as we have a fenced in back yard. It saves the hassle of having to run them out and wait for them to potty. This also lets them go out and play whenever they want. It has been a game changer. Our former neighbors had a pittie mix and he was such a sweet boy! He would come into our yard to play with our big dog, Rocky, all the time, I was so sad when he moved away!

Call me dumb... I didn't know you could check a dogs DNA..well why not I guess. but yes that will be a big dog!!! good luck with it.
I didn't know either until our daughter had her dog's DNA checked. We have the Banfield Optimum care plan for our dogs. The puppy plan includes a free DNA test. This helps determine if your pup has any diseases that they are predisposed to so the vet can keep an eye out for those things,

you and me both... never thought dog DNA testing was a thing...
They check a dog's DNA because certain breeds are susceptible to different diseases and conditions. If they know what breed(s) the dog is they can be watching them to make sure they catch those things early.
