Using and altering masks?

Do you? I love to add additional brush layers and/or masks/overlays to a mask. I'll often take a mask and duplicate it numerous times, rotating and resizing it, then merging them all together before clipping the photo/paper to it.

Do you use masks often? Do you manipulate/alter them at all? What's you fave thing to do with masks?

I like the look of a photo clipped to a mask and then a frame placed overtop.

I love using masks. Sometimes I'll duplicate a mask multiple time for a larger photo. I've also combined different masks for the same purpose. Otherwise I don't change them months. But I'm on a roll this month for expanding my digiscrap horizons, so maybe I'll give it a try.

I love doing that too, Rae and Cindy. I have also messed around with duplicating the mask and then changing blend modes after I clip the papers/photos to t.
Pro Tip: DON'T Merge down or you lose the blending effect.

I use clipping masks but I love and prefer to use Layer masks especially the inverted (alt click on the layer mask icoon in the layer panel to paint the photo back with for example watercolor brushes

Yes, good tip about "not" merging down.

You totally lost me now. I have no idea what you are talking about. Any tutorial out there? Maybe it's something I can't do in PSE?

Yes, I like to invert a photo mask and paint it back on to emphasize a portion of the photo and changing the blend mode too. I admit I don't use watercolor brushes too often but I do want to start playing more with them.

Oh, and I use photo masks sometimes if it's part of the kit, but it's not that often I think. Usually, I think they are pretty small, and duplicate them (or use 2-3 together). Sometimes I add the same photo to 2-3 photo masks and then use different blend modes to each to make it special.

I have the best luck with just blending a photo into paper. I do use masks, though and enjoy using the ones with all the little leaves and bit on them.

I love masks too. And I often add some brushes to it befause merging, or some I erase part of it.
We can do so much effects with masks.

I also play with masks sometimes adding brushes, enlarging or scrunching one way or another. Interesting about not merging down with blended layers. In PSP that is fine - on one condition, that the bottom layer is normal.

I'm not very good with masks - they never seem to look like other people's that I see
Check gallery instructions as often there will be written instructions on how to achieve the look, that might give you some ideas on what you might want to try.

Masks are something I can't live without. I use them all the ways y'all have mentioned and I sometimes take paint or similar items in a kist and make them into masks. That can be very rewarding!
