Seán Duggan: Understanding Photoshop’s Missing & Mismatched Profile Messages
includes
-how to set up preferences so you're warned when profile from something you're pasting/dragging doesn't match that of your document
-how to set preferences for your own default photoshop document
-what to do if you get a warning about a profile mismatch
I once did an entire (really complex) LO without noticing that the template (from an Oscraps designer, to boot!) I started with was Adobe RGB instead of Adobe sRGB and I did not have PS set to warn me about profile mismatches. I dragged in all kinds of stuff that was sRGB (the majority of my stuff). It was a disaster when I tried to send the finished work to Shutterfly, which requires sRGB, and required hours of reworking.
I didn't know until now (after reading the article) that I could have set up my preferences to warn me of the profile mismatches.
