always chatty at the O!!
Wow!! Those pictures are huge. I'm sorry. I'll try and fix them later.
So...I got a bad tattoo. I was trying to get a tattoo that represented my Native American heritage but the guy was terrible and I made him stop. So, I needed it covered up. I had originally come up with some other tribal stuff to cover it but then I started seeing some really cool watercolor images that I really liked and wondered if I those would cover the old. So I had originally wanted a dandelion. I like the whole regrowth process of them...even if they are weeds. But there is too much white space with them. Then I also really like poppies. Here in the US the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) always hands out poppies on Veteran's Day. I love being amilitary wife and a veteran myself so I thought I'd look into that a little bit and found out that poppies were chosen to remember the blood that was lost during the World Wars and they have veterans actually put the poppies together. The concept is based on this poem:
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead.
Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved and now we lie,
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw,
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us, who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow,
In Flanders Fields.
Then the yellow flower to me looks kinda like a dandelion...which I already explained. So...that's my story.
