Stupid external drive!

Well, actually it probably is my own fault.
My external drive is broken.
When I wanted to put my laptop on, I put the little cable into the external drive in stead of into the laptop. It took a few seconds befor I realised it was the wrong one.
So I was surfing internet.. and after 45 mins I wanted to connect my external drive.. And nothing happened.. No green light, no sound from a loading drive, no popup with 'open drive with'... GAH!

The worst part of it, all my scrapkits are on there.. I have no backup:Cry: I know it is the dumbest thing to do, have an external drive and NO backup of it:faint2:
 
I feel for you so much - mine died last summer and not all of it was backed up- I was more worried about my photos which mostly were backed up!
 
Luckily I've got my photos also on my laptop. I copied them to the drive, but didn't delete them from my laptop just because I was to lazy to make a backup. LOL So maybe I'm kind of lucky with that one with the photos :)
 
Oh poor Yvon! At least you can redownload your Oscraps stuff if need be!! The O is soooo awesome about that!

i had this 2 times and so can relate how you feel.

REALLY!?

Yay!! That makes me feel a bit better. I never knew that was possible.
Than I can get the most of my stuff back:peace:

This afternoon I'm bringing my drive to the computer guy, he will see if he can get all the stuff off. I hope so!
He said I probably 'blew up' my own drive. Yes yes.. I know it was my own fault:scared:
 
My dad had a ehd problem a few weeks back, and everything was found on it. and they were able to copy it to a new ehd!!
 
My husband is a big computer guy Yvon. If it is just a problem with the port where you plug in the cord or a power issue, they hopefully should be able to recover. If it's a physical problem though, it might either not be possible or cost a lot of money.

I just went to check the directions on how to redownload your stuff from the O, and this must have changed when we went to the new shop. It doesn't have the download links like it used to. But I bet if you let Vicki know, she can help you out.

I went to the My account. And the order history.
I can still download all my stuff :D

This afternoon I talked to the computerguy, we agreed that he'll call me how much work it is.
If it is to much work, or to much damaged it makes it to expensive. Than I'll buy a new one. And start over.
If it is a small thing, and he can get everything off, he'll do that.
I thought about it, the photos where on there, and also on my laptop. So that is no desaster..
My scrapstuff.. now I feel a lot better that I can re-download everything.
The worst part was, I was making a photobook from my girls for my mother.
And that one is gone. I had 20 pages finished. So not that many. But that i'll have to start over again..
 
oh dear is there no way it can be rescued by putting the drive into another housing?

thank goodnes you still had the photos that would be awful to lose and shame about the album you were making but at keast that can be done again ( says she who'd go beserk if it happened to her)
 
Oh Yvon!! I hope now you will be uploading somewhere in the sky also or something. I did find with Mozy that if you don't pay to upload from you EHD it won't do it automatically. Good luck lady.
 
And Yvon, if you had stuff at other places, you can always email them and ask. Most are pretty understand and will activate them for you for one download or something. :-)

1 little good part about this is that I clean up my stash. The things that I don't like or want to use anymore, I won't download them LOL

Ellen, it was not fixable again :( I put the adaptercable from my laptop into the ehd. So it got a boost of electricity.. And I kind of burn stuff inside:-?

Clara.. I'm clueless? Sorry I don't understand what you mean:oops:
 
I'm referring to backing up your files to a backup provider like MOzy, Carbonite, Adrive, etc. Companies that backup your files online.
