Selling products on Consignment?

Has anyone ever sold anything on consignment?

I have an opportunity to sell some of my products in a local gift store on consignment. I am meeting with the owner on Friday and I have never sold this way before.

Does anyone have any tips?
Mostly I am not sure of what a fair percentage would be for the owners and myself to split.

I do consignment at 2 places up here, One I used to go to alot, and I did pretty well there i am the queen of buying clothes and then deciding months later im not into what I bought and or have lost the receipt / etc. And to make some money back I used to bring alot of stuff to consignment.

recently I started bringing some of Nico's stuff to a children's consignment because as you know...kids grow so quickly and Ive got sooo much stuff. So I go thru and keep what I want to or what is sentimental and make some cash back on the rest.

The only thing is. it seems like these stores have been changing their numbers around a bit probably due to the economy of course...but, when I started going ot this consignment store (http://www.consignit.com/) It was a 50% 50% deal.....then it was like a 60% / 40% (in their favor) so...you know....but I guess I didnt really help much but I hope you have luck in these stores!! You never know! Cant hurt to try!!!!

They may already have a price in mind. Just make sure you charge enough to make money on it. You could probably up your prices a little bit to sell in a gift shop.
