Realistic paper textures - what is your opinion? :)

Hey guys! I am crazy about textures, grunge, shabbiness, etc., and I usually have a realistic paper texture on my papers. I have noticed that most of the designers I have downloaded freebies from do NOT use paper texture...they might use a little distressing, but it is still a flat texture. Do you have a preference? I have considered doing both textured and non-textured versions of my papers, but I am not sure if that is something that would make a difference in sales...plus it all looks weird to me without the texture...lol What do you guys think? :choclove

I prefer subtle texture. If I want flat, I can just use the paint bucket tool and make my background precisely the shade I want.

I love the "O"
me too I love textures on a paper but not so much, because I love to use brushes and if the texture is to much it don´t look good when you use brushes or masks.

Feeling at hOme!
I love to use grunge and texture papers rather than plain papers.
I think subtle textured papers are more easy to use than heavy textured ones, but as always it depends on your style and your pictures.

Jenn- you already know that I love your papers!

I love grungy patterned blendable papers. However, sometime I do like to throw a lighter solid paper over a grungy one, to "subtle-ize" the effect. So if you included a solid texture or two, I would use that. But don't mess around too much, ya hear? :p

Thank you for all of the wonderful feedback, ladies!! :) So I guess doing a mix of texture/grunge levels would be good...I really am considering including both "clean" and textured versions of my papers in each pack...maybe...lol ;)

I like solids and simple papers. It has happened when I saw the paper pack to feel myself lost in ideas of the designer, and to sorry that I did not have a chance to bought only the elements. So some of the things that I try treat myself in Oscraps is to use more texture. But for now I prefer subtle texture, especially with so many brushes possibility to use if you need.

I love texture, but I always get lost in descriptions like, shabby, grunge, distressed etc. These are things that translate very difficult.
So I would love to see what you mean.
No paper texture for me translates as bucket fill.

So maybe if you make a sample, paperpiece in all styles (with names) so we can see the difference?

O sO silly
I don't think those designer didn't use any texture, it's just that the texture is more subtle like a cardboard texture and less visible than yours maybe. I know I like cardboard textures or light paper textures. When you say no texture, for me it means just a color layer and nothing on it. Like Madi sayid : a layer filled with the bucket paint, no more.
I think you are talking about papers from rather clean and simple designers maybe but I do see textures on those, it's just not as marked as yours maybe.

THAT SAID, I don't think you should change your style because other designers prefer subtle textures. Your papers are beautiful and you shouldn't change the things you like ;)
