PSE 15 won't accept .png file

I am trying to include a .png file into PSE and it isn't accepted because "use doesn't accept this type of file" but I know it does, as I have several other .png files in the project. How do I get around this?

Hi Michele, the file could be corrupt which sometimes happens.

I did google it and didn't find much except for a similar problem with PS...... the advice would certainly apply to PSE as well so have a read. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2416369

In your File Explorer I would copy that file into another folder and try renaming it there so the original hasn't been touched. Once renamed try opening it in PSE, if it works, move the corrected png file back to the original location and get rid of the old one. If the renaming doesn't work then check with the designer (if it is an element from a kit) to see if they can supply you with a new one. Sometimes there can be glitches when saving files and it could be the case with yours.

Yay so glad you got this problem solved! It has happened to me before also and on my Mac i just open the file, right click and click on "Get Info" Then rename the file. Like Ona says!
