We are busy in our garden. Rearranging plants, pre-sowing seeds in trays, bought new plants (oh I'm really addicted to flowers).
This time I bought a lot of dahlia varieties, i have to search in my garden to plant them somewhere '.
In the meantime, we have also been busy picking weeds in our vegetable garden and soon plant all kinds of vegetables.
Now we hope for good weather so that we can soon enjoy all that beauty and goodies.

We have lots of flowers. No vegetables. But our new additions include avocado tree, lemon tree and cocktail citrus (which will produce limes, lemons, grapefruit and tangerines). I love shopping for flowers.

Our vegetable garden is not at our house but in an allotment as we call it here, several people work a piece of land belonging to the municipality, there you also learn how to grow vegetables.
How nice an avocado tree!

I bought my herbs a couple of weeks ago, thinking it was going to be warm enough to plant but they are still sunning "inside" the sliding doors, because we've had some cold nights. I'm hoping by the end of next week i can put those babies in the ground. :) My rosemary, is year round so it will be glad to have some neighbors moving in to compete with. haha I haven't decided what I'll plant besides, tomatoes and my different herbs. My lawn guy came last week so he did the weed eating at the flower garden so I can get in there and play now also. Did I tell you a little snake came to visit me a couple of weeks ago? First heart failure of the year. haha

We’ve added hibiscus and a rose since the first of the year. We are working on finding the right flowers for all our planters.

@Danesa We were at the neighbors the other night. Fran and I were out admiring her bottle brush trees. I looked at the base of the tree and asked if they had a special hose running there...which surprised me since the yards are fully irrigated here. She looked down and screamed “No, that’s a snake.” LOL It was only a black racer but it was enough to cause the two of us to run back inside.

Our garden is still in winter mode. I did get rid of some plants that did not make it through the winter.
I usually wait until mid april, begin of may for new plants, esp. the ones that just last one season.
We do have an avocado plant, grown from the seed of a fruit we ate. It is about 25 cm high now. I am not sure it will grow into a tree for the garden.

We're starting from "scratch" since we just moved into a new home. Lots to do - I don't really know where to start. I'm planning and getting it down - just in the planning stages. I've started lots of seeds inside and am planning on moving them to containers, then going from there.

We only have a very small garden and we both have absolutely no green fingers .... For a vegetable garden we have no room and no patience .... When the ice saints are over, I will fill some pots with annual plants ... I also need a few new herb plants ..
@veer , I believe dahlias are popular all over ... a few friends had recently bought several too ...
I hope the weather gets better soon ... I am tired of my winter coat!

I'm not start gardening yet, excusing myself with the unusual cold Spring this year.
It's unforgivable, it's a sin, to have garden like mine and to not produce your own food! My grandma was feeding her family from the same this place, but I'm so lazy! I even not make my own seeds. Before I was buying them from local ladies, supporting their spring income. But now I'm trying to not contact with people outside of my extended family, so will have to buy online from famous seed companies, supporting some corporation, and products who are raised who knows how! So all this is very demotivating for me!

@marijke There is actually many cute ideas for enthusiast without yard. Search in Instagram for ''balcony gardening'', and things like potatoes in bags, and cherry tomatoes and carrots in pots.
But yes, I can totally rely to the lack of motivation, I'm suffering from the same this year!

@Cherylndesigns Just let me know if you need inspiration, I know the best gardeners accounts on IG!

Today I sowed rosemary for the first time, curious how it will work out

What a pity for you, hopefully you can start your garden in good spirits again next year.

I also sowed them myself this year, but we regularly go to a garden center where they sell very small plants, they are not expensive and save a lot of work.

My gardens-- For what they are worth-
I live in a wooded area with rocky soil. As for actual gardening- veggies- I have a couple of small raised beds and pots on my patio. I usually grow tomatoes and some herbs. I have had really good luck with cucumbers, so-so luck with zucchini and eggplant. We have a couple of blueberry bushes but the birds tend to get to the berries before they are ripe. We have tried covering them with mesh but that doesn't seem to help much. The squirrels and chipmunks can get to them too.

My yard is best suited for hardy flowers- I have little areas around the yard where I grow perennials. Every year I will split them which is nice and inexpensive. Yesterday I started to plant forsythia runners in various spots in the backyard. I have lilies (regular and tiger) and irises along the driveway, as well as along the front by the road. Lots of lilies of the valley- they spread like mad. I have a few hostas that are ready to be split too. It is still too cold to put out annuals- I live in Zone 6 so our safe date is May 15. My dad gets me a flat of impatiens for Mother's Day and I pop them into buckets on the front steps and along the side yard for some color.

Right now I am mostly working on cleanup- because I have woods along the side and behind my yard, we get loads of leaves covering everything so I have to uncover all of the growth from the dead leaves and acorns. We also have an invasive vine that makes a mess of everything and now is the time to pull as much of that s*** up while the ground is soft. It is a never-ending battle. *grumbles*

I thought it was supposed to rain all day but the sun is out ATM so if I can't all of my desk/housework done quickly I am going to be back out there as much as I can before it started. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice and I will be out there, covered in dirt!

Ours is a year old now. It is from an avocado we had during the first lockdown. Kept it in a bag, with a tissue and some water in the window over the summer. It grew lots of roots. We forgot about it but my mom loves projects like this so she gave it some soil and a pot, lots of love and now it is a plant.
Actually two plants. The pit split and it grew two plants. They look like identical twins!
I will show a picture later!

I used to grow avocado trees with my classes when I used to teach. I had one that was so big we couldn't keep it inside. Then I went on vacation for a week and it "mysteriously" died while I was away. Hmmm.
I was never able to get any to actually grow fruit, if any of you get some, let me know-- and what your secret is :D

I live in a townhouse so my back patio garden is pretty small. It is packed with plants the roots are so matted that I can't get a spade into the soil..
Now the only garden I have are 5 largish pots which I filled up today.
