is it just me or is pocket scrapbooking not that popular any more? I love it, since it is easy to create consistent looking yearbooks, but I do not see it as much in the galleries as I'd want

The only time I used to do pocket scrapbooking is when I only had my iPad to use while we were away from home. I know that many people are still in groups of Facebook for it. I like variety and would rather use a variety of templates to scrap different styles of pages. Also, now I have a laptop that I can take with me on trips so I can even scrap in the car! :)

I think you are right. Pocket style used to be all the rave but now one rarely sees a pocket page... super versatile and practical, but not as impressive as art journaling, pocket style tends to be rather private... mostly for those who document and journal without the need to attract public attention. These days artful and artsy are in style: messy threads, splatters, torn edges, blending... not the storytelling or straightforward document-your-everydays type. And remember, the vast majority of scrappers don't share their pages with the rest of the world, while CT members create to impress...

However, if you've been scrappig long enough, you'll have seen that styles go in and out of fashion all the time... after all everythig new is the newly rediscovered old...

Oh, and I love consistent-looking yearbooks which are pleasing to look at... but I find that consistent-looking is not that fun to create... but that's just me... By the way, I love your pocket pages, Sonjia...

@svanderhaegen im totally a pocket scrapper but I often don’t post the pages because I haven’t seen a lot in the past, but you’ve inspired me to start posting them in the gallery to see if there are other pocket scrappers out there!

Post those pocket pages!!! There is room for all styles, and I think all styles should be shown. I was on Created by Jill's creative team way back and most of her kits were artsy, strings, paint, etc... the messy style. She asked me on her team to make cleaner and simple pages, and even pocket pages to show versatility in pages. It was fun and challenging!

Here's a page of what I'm doing for my Project 52 this year! I bought a template maker and am making my own grids.
Susie, it's wonderful!!! It gives you so much room for journaling. I can't wait to see all of your templates. Also did you see the action that can round the corners and that can shrink the cards a bit so you can see the backgrounds? So many options with the template maker! I will be following you in the gallery!

I just had to jump in and comment LOL
Im scrapping pocket style for years now and designing templates and kits in the pocket style too and I LOVE it so much.
I do not think that pocket page have to be private only, the thing I love about that style is that the focus is on the photos, not that mach on the kit. I'm using this style mainly to gather the many and important photos and the memory from that one event and usually I don't share a journaling at all but rather use sentences and quotes in my page. I like the fact that I can put large pictures on the page and I also print the pages as magnets or as an album. I also think pocket scrapping is very easy, you just need to add photos in spots and add some elements and papers and that is it you done LOL

here is two of my favourites pages that I have scrapped about my kids and family holiday dinner using my pocket templates and you can see how you can combine pocket style with traditional style but with more focus on the big photos and using word art and kits pocket cards instead of personal journaling that I do not like to share with the world

I've been watching this thread hoping to learn what the heck you mean by pocket scrapbooking. I still don't understand exactly. Here's a page I did in November. Would it be pocket scrapbooking? I've weekly pages for several different years and always designed each one to be unique so probably some would be pocket but others maybe not. So what does it mean?

Pocket scrapping refers to creating layouts that look like you put physical photos and cards into album sleeves that had, well, pockets in them! The first I heard of pocket scrapping was when Becky Higgins started her Project Life series years ago...HERE is a link to her website. Journal cards in digital kits are sized they way they are to mimic actual photo sizes that would go into a pocket. Some digital designers even make overlays that look like the plastic sleeves themselves - here's a quick example I found from Lilach Oren.

I have to say, though, that I MUCH prefer @LilachO 's first layout in her post above, I like how it deviates from the rigid pocket style and adds so many artsy touches.

@scrap-genie , yes this is a pocket scrapping - the style is more of a blocking look to the page.
the best way to scrap in this style is to use templates, you can use the same template over and over and just change the papers, the photos and the elements every time you scrap and you get new look. Here is a free template from my store here at Oscraps
download the template and try to play with it and see how its going for you
