Please help me name some babies.

Rat babies, of course! Which seems to be harder than naming human ones. :p I had two names for my children picked out since I was 14-15 years old and thankfully, I used them both and didn't need any extras.

Back to the rat babies- they are currently known as White and Spots. Neither name is a good one although they are descriptive. They need names before Caitlyn takes them to the vet on Saturday since they are currently in the system as White and Spots. That cannot stand, heh.
Caitlyn usually likes to name her rats with a theme, not counting her first two. Muffin was literally muffin-shaped and Clover just sounded good with it. The next batch came with names from the Rescue, Shakespeare characters (Titania, Cordelia, Olivia). Then came two more girls who ended up with Shakespeare names (Imogen and Evangeline). After that, she went in a totally different direction and named them Squirrel, Badger, and Otter.

She has a list going but nothing is jumping out at us.

So--throw out any names. Nothing is too weird, there are some strange ones on the list already. Foods (Jelly Bean), music (Dancing Queen), characters (Theo and Nell from Hill House), Pibbles, Pigeon and Mouse. Nothing-- almost nothing- is out of the question. :lol23:

So hit me with some ideas!

And I should add that they will end up with a million kooky nicknames. If we called Titania by her real name more than ten times, it would be a lot. She quickly became Tat Rat. Cordelia was Doodle, Dilly, Cordeloo, Noodle and so on. So any potential names have to have socially acceptable variations of it.
Some of the ones my DH and Ds came up with could have been nightmares out in public. :footinmouth:

Oh geez, Chris - I suck at naming pets. Daisy was already named when we got her. How about Daisy and Tulip?

Somewhere around here, I have a list of pet names that Asher and I came up with a few years ago. I'll look for it.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!! I just want to SNUGGLE those sweet little babies!!!!!!!!!!! :cloud9:

The first names that came to me are Marshmallow and Fluff.....Marshy and Fluffy would be cute and easy nick names to say...heehee! And I LOVE me some of the marshmallow fluff that you buy in a container :giggle4:

So did you buy these little cuties, or did you guys have babies?! I really miss our ratties :sad2: I don't miss the smell, though.....we had FIVE males who peed everywhere....*shudder* If we do ever get more rats, they will be females...and of course you have to get two, so they can snuggle with each other...I loved watching them groom their friends....it was so sweet, and I miss rat kisses... UGH...now I want to get rats again. :floorlaugh: We have enough pets here...lol Oh!! I was snuggling with Whisper, our ball python, today, and I found out that she doesn't only enjoy cooking shows, but she is a fan of Kpop like I am!! I have a Kpop YouTube mix that I play in the background while I am doing whatever, and she was laying on me and watching the music videos :cloud9: And YES, even though I am a huge fan of rock, I am now addicted to Kpop....I have been for a few years now....LOL Edited to add that the music videos are amazing for so many Kpop songs, and that is what first caught my attention!

You can see Luna rubbing on my legs below, oblivious to me holding a snake....:giggle4: And, as usual, please ignore the vasculitis on my hand...the breakouts just don't stop...I also have swelling in my hands that started last night...just fun stuff...yeah....:voodoodoll: And I finally found my warm pajama pants...all I have out are shorts or capris, and I was chilly today!!! Not complaining, just explaining...LOL I was SO happy to find them! I am sure I will be back in shorts in the next day, or two...the heat always finds it's way back :monkebootie:

I realize that I have turned this into a different kind of post now...LOL Sorry!!! I know you love snakes, like I do, so I wanted to share my happy time with you :heartpumppink:

Well, @joyfulheartdesigns let me just say this: you're a special kind of lady, aren't you? You have a lovely tortoise cat there ...... and you're cuddling a snake??!?

@faerywings As for the rats: I would name them Friskies & Mjau ... those are brand names for cat food. That's my twisted sense of humor speaking. Otherwise I liked Spongebob & Squarepants. Or Svampbob & Fyrkantsbyxa which is his Swedish name, in case you want more of a challenge?

Oh, these are great!

@taxed4ever I am *dying* over Ratt Damon and Rathhew McConaughey :floorlaugh:

I also love the cheese names, @scribler. For my Italian family, would have to have it be Mozzarella and Parmesan. Perhaps Ricotta. Pronounced correctly. Mutzadell. Rig-aught. :p

@tanteva you know I have the same warped sense of humor as you do and I think those names are hysterical!

@joyfulheartdesigns Whisper is such a great name for a snake, and I suggested Luna for one of the rats.
She got these rats from her boss. He was in a reptile store with his kid and saw them there as food.

[Sidenote: I know it's a fact of snake-life even if it's hard to accept. Scott had to feed his snake pinkies and he warned me a couple of years ago they would be in the freezer, in a paper bag marked "corn," and don't look in it. I blocked that out of my mind *completely.* His snake died over the summer and he moved out in Sept. I saw him last week and asked him if I should just toss the bag. I was thoroughly confused when he told me that Caitlyn wanted him to bury them. Which he did, under a small pile of leaves in the woods behind our house. That way, any other critters could eat them. Once they defrosted. :lol23:]

Cait's boss knew that she was devastated that she lost two of her three in September. Saw these little teeny babies in the tank and had to rescue them for her. He knew the shop owner, asked him to hold onto two females. Then he came up with this story and asked Caitlyn if he could borrow her travel cage - some reason about his kids' needing to take their hamsters somewhere. She went into her office and there they were!

Rat kisses are the sweetest and these babies are so friendly. They will be very used to getting scooped up and carried around. Caitlyn's last batch of rats- two of the three were more reserved than all of the others so she is adamant that these won't get the chance to know any other way LOL!

ITA about boy rats. Scott had 2 sets of rats. He had two females and then three males. Totally different
and stinky! PU!

Awww....that is so sweet that he did that!! That is how we ended up with our 5 rats...they were feeder rats at our local pet store. We had become friendly with the owners because we were in there for bearded dragon stuff a lot, and one day there was one sweet little grey baby rat all alone in a center glass enclosure...I couldn't resist reaching my hand in there, and he climbed right into it and started snuggling! His mom had killed all of his brothers and sisters, so they saved him and had taken him home for a few weeks, so he was totally used to humans. They had planned to keep him for themselves, but when they saw how much the girls and I loved him, they let us buy him...he was only $2.85!! We named him Oliver and he became Chloe's baby :heartpumpred: After seeing how awesome he was, we went back three other times over the next month and ended up with 5 boys :giggle4:

Thankfully, the girls use little frozen mice to feed Whisper...I wouldn't be able to watch her eat live mice...too sad!! So every time I open up my big freezer I see a bag little mice sitting there...but I also see a frozen turtle and crested gecko that still need to be buried! My freezer is like a mausoleum :rotfl:

It is looking more likely that the names will be Pigeon and Mouse, even though no one is using them yet. They move so quickly that it is hard to tell who is who any way :p
They are growing fast and have doubled in size. Cait has been weighing them and they are close to or over 2 oz. The first time that she weighed them, they were 1.4 and 1.5 oz and that was Friday.

Jenn, my cousin had her niece move in with her for a few months a while back. The niece had a snake and it ate rats. My cousin flipped out the first time that she saw her niece put the frozen rat in the microwave to defrost. Then the niece grabbed a regular pot to warm the rat in. My cousin was freaking out! Not that I blame her, I would be too

YAY that they are growing well!!! :lovey3: Pigeon and Mouse sound cute!!

Yeah, kinda gross defrosting the mice!!! LOL Chloe has an old jelly jar that she fills with water and microwaves, then she puts the tiny mouse in the water for a few minutes for it to thaw, so none of my cookware is being used :giggle4:

@Kythe Snakes and rats are the least of them! :D
Scott has spiders (fishing spiders), 2 praying mantis, a vinegaroon (whip-tail scorpion), and of course, Rita the tarantula who still lives with us. He brought his snake tank to his new house even though his last snake died over the summer. He had created an entire ecosphere for the snakes and it's pretty awesome. He found a millipede on a hike and brought it home and it's living somewhere in the tank.
I am not crazy about millipedes, too many legs LOL

If you ever want to add some Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches to the scene, we still have a colony!! :lovey3: The girls were using the babies as feeders for the bearded dragon for a while, but have switched to mealworms and the beetles that they become. I wish Saffron, the crested gecko, could eat them...he just enjoys his gecko mixed food though...the 9 toads enjoy them, though! lol My girls have always wanted to get a tarantula, and they love the giant centipedes! I think tarantulas are gorgeous, but I don't know if I could ever hold one...I just like looking at them...and the millipedes are a big NOPE for me...they creep me out!! LOL They are fun to watch, but I would FREAK if one was ever loose in the house...all of those types of insects freak me out after living in Iowa where we had HUGE house centipedes with creepy long legs in the last house that we were renting! Same with a cockroach that can fly...that's the only reason I said yes to taking in the original five hissing cockroaches...they cannot fly....lol They are actually really sweet :beatingheart:

Olga, now that I think of it, there is nothing wrong with White and Spots. Those just didn't "fit."

And yes, it is official. The names are Pigeon (formerly known as Spots) and Mouse (White).

As for hissers---- my neighbors had some when the kids were little and we would "babysit" if they went on vacation. They loved feeding them bits of lettuce.
And Jenn if you need to be adopted into a new family ever, you would fit right in with the Campbells. If you think my family has a zoo, you should see my BILs family. They have more exotics than I can count LOL!
