Planting seeds

I've been busy planting seeds today. I've been looking forward for a while, but today finally the sun is shining and it's so nice to be outside.
I never planted seeds before, I usually bought plants in the store and planted them in my garden.

I have salad seeds, tomato seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds. I don't really know if I'm doing it all okay, but I do know I enjoy it

Do you also plant seeds, do you grow vegetables of flowers in your garden?

we only have a small garden ... and I really have no green fingers ... we have a part of grass and a part with some flowers ... a bit wild and without maintenance ... on my terrace I put some pots of herbs and one-year-olds that I usually buy on the market ...

well we have also just sown some garden herbs for a few years, especially the thyme grows well with us!
This year we also purchased other herbs, curious what it will be.
For our flower garden, we have already planted many plants and tubers!

I do not plant or seed myself, but my mom loves doing that.
today she got some free compost and lots of tomato seeds, so when the seeds are little plants I will get some, and try to grow tomatoes!

This month, I planted some tomatoes, hot peppers and herb seeds, in little eco pots so I will be able to transfer them to my garden when it is warm enough. It should be safe to plant them outside within the next month. Its always fun to see those first little green heads come above the potting soil. :) I usually get my other veggies & annual herb plants at an organic farm and transfer those at the same time as my seeds. Today was gorgeous here (74 & sunny.) Its always so tempting to plant but I know we usually get one last freeze/snow mid April. I did get to play in the dirt, though, and get my soil tilled and ready for planting. That always makes me feel like Spring is here and soon veggies will be rolling in. :)

I love to garden but now that I live in an apartment I only have room for potted plants on my balcony and a little bed outside my front door so I stick to flowers. Even so, I much rather buy baby plants when possible.

I don't have a lot of luck growing from seeds. I will throw out some packets of bee-friendly flower seeds and I try and try to do well with the veggie seeds but it is easier for me to buy seedling to put right into the ground. Our frost date is May 15- Zone 6 IIRC- which doesn't give me lots of time.
We started to talk about what we want to plant this year and cucumbers are on the list along with some squash, maybe lettuce. We usually plant several kinds of tomatoes but the chipmunks get to them no matter what we do to prevent it so we might not bother this time around.
I always do a lot of herbs- basil as an annual. I have a huge sage plant and my cilantro reseeds itself spectacularly.
one of my rosemary plants stayed alive inside this winter and I know it will be really happy when I can put it back out.

Yesterday we made it to almost 70* and I was stuck inside and all of this talk of planting and growing makes me wish for the spring/summer weather!!
