Worked hard on a layout and really liked it - then got no (or hardly any) comments on it??? Again, asking for a friend.
Oh darn it, Eva - you had to see this, didn't you??? BWAHAHAThank you for asking for me!
Glad you brought this up - I've had the same thing happen.Same here. Funny thing is though, that those layout will get comments on other media like facebook or instagram. I guess it just happens.
It's a funny thing, isn't it?Oh yes...I have definitely felt this!
Great point, Olga!May I join the club too??? One just never knows how one's layouts will be - or not - liked... and I guess some do slip through the cracks too... especially if many people are participating in an event...
Haha Chris - I don't think I'm as funny as I think I am, either - my funny layouts, never go over well, either. #dkI am in this club too, aren't I?
I have noticed that some of my LOs that I try to be funny with are the ones that don't get comments. Guess that means I am not as funny as I think Ha!!
I like "barely a blip", Susie - great analogy.Yes!!! I have two of my very favorite layouts of all time and they made barely a blip on the radar. I guess my taste is different than the crowd.
That's a nice way to look at it, Evelyn.Yes, that has happened to me. It depends on so many things. I think that sometimes layouts slip through the cracks. I try to comment on posts that have no comments. Sometimes that person has worked really hard on their layout and poured themselves into it. I try to let them know I appreciate their work.
I LOVE seeing all of the input on this topic, Jean. I was just sitting here the other night, thinking about this and decided to start a topic. LOVE your insight.I sometimes think of this from the other side as it were. I look at the Standing Os and am usually impressed but other times I can't imagine why a LO was included. Rarely, I see a LO that I think is wonderful but doesn't get the comments/Standing O and wonder then too (I know, I could put it in but rarely am that ambitious.) So clearly, sometimes my taste runs counter to that of others.
Hahaha Amanda, you always give me a good laugh. We definitely need T-shirts, that's for sure. I especially like "not a blip" but Lost in the cracks is a close second. I create for myself too - one of my latest one is probably puzzling to people - I know what you mean. My LOs almost always have a deep meaning to me - especially my AJ pages. So, Cheryl, where can we buy the t-shirt for this group? !!! I echo the sentiments above: "a blip"," lost in the cracks", "a standing (what?)-- it is a very subjective subject, AND a matter of timing. I too create for myself, for sure. Some of my pages I KNOW will puzzle people, because they are symbolic or even "prophetic". But it is fun to be noticed- it's part of the human condition!
Yup that has happened as well. I give up LOLWorked hard on a layout and really liked it - then got no (or hardly any) comments on it??? Again, asking for a friend.
Yes, that has happened to me as well. I guess my "tastes" are different sometimes. Then others - totally go the opposite way - that's why I posted these two topics coming from different directions. I love all the responses. It happened to me recently. I created a layout that I was absolutely in love with and it got maybe one comment. I decided I loved it for the feelings it invoked rather than it actually being a great page. (I still love the page.)
I know we've all had this happen, Christa - BTW - I've never seen a LO of yours that I didn't love.Yup that has happened as well. I give up LOL
thank you Cheryl Hugs and Merry Christmas to you and your family!I know we've all had this happen, Christa - BTW - I've never seen a LO of yours that I didn't love.
Same to you, Christa. Christmas Treethank you Cheryl Hugs and Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Yep! #dkHappens all the time!
Great response, Kythe!!The thing with likeing LO's or not is definitely subjective and depends on one's point of view or what the viewer enjoys.
What one has to remember is there are really three types of LO's; the ones that scrap memories in a very personal way, and a second that focus on feelings/thoughts beliefs (AJ) which are intensly personal and have great meaning to the creator. They can be traditional or creative in style and beautifully crafted.
The third is the creative art type. They usually use non personal images sourced from the internet. This type is done as an expression of artistic style, use of techniques and filters. They often attract attention because of the style and creative skill involved. Some can invoke a mood or feeling for the viewer like a painting in a gallery.
All three have an impact on the viewer however members will gravitate to the style that they use themselves or to a style they wish to learn to do. It isn't that the work is not liked, it may simply not be the style that the viewer is drawn to.
Personnally I sometimes will look at a LO, fall in love with it and not leave a message only because I can not think of words to express my awe that is worthy of the creation. Especially if there are other comments before mine. I need to work on that but I really like to give meaningful comments. Sometimes I will tick the ' like' button just to show the creator that I have seen it and appreciate their work.
