I am consolidating all my iPhoto libraries and photo folders in my computer and the 3 externals and so far it numbers 16337 photos and I'm not even half done!!! I have no excuse to re-scrap anything anymore!! I do realize that there are probably duplicates in there - but MAAAAAAAN that's a lot of photos!!

How about you? Do you have your photos all in one place?

I have my photos in two main places- three if you want to be (sort of) technical. I have photos on my phone/synced with Google Photos. I try to download them regularly to my computer. I'll then delete some of them off of my phone to save room.
As for how many photos I have, I don't;' have clue, but Google tells me I have 3 GBs. And my Pictures Folder on my hard drive is 4 GB.

One of my "future" projects os to organize all of my old photos and scan them. I started a few we years ago but never finished

This thread is making me hyperventilate. I have 16,113 photos in SmugMug. I have 10,000+ in Google Photos. Many of these are duplicates. Then I have boxes and boxes of hard copy photos beginning with ancestor photos in the 1800's. I am trying to figure out how in the world to even begin to approach this. I at least know where the pictures are. That's progress.

This is almost me exactly, although my computer tells me I have over 20GB of pictures. Can that be right?

I have lost many photos over the years due to computer or EHD failure but I still have over a TB of images on 4 drives. Many are not duplicates but similar wildlife images but I can't bring myself to delete any of them. Also, one of the reasons my library is so big is b/c I shoot raw so the file size is large. I took 200 photos yesterday and filled 20 gigs of space on EHD.

Photos organized? What's that?!!! :D :D According to my phone, I have 19,238 photos. Plus the ones on the ehd, and the ones on laptop hd. Who knows how many that is??? I started the download/delete process like Angie, but it is really confusing due to duplications
. One of my goals for January is to go through iCloud and download the "best" ones and delete the rest. That is a bit sensitive to me as I have already lost 9 paper albums in the past; always the concern I will delete something I want in future. But if I am careful to search photos for details, I think it will be alright. Oh boy. first world problems. Ha!

I have 39,000 pictures on Flickr - that's one of my safe places. - I have unlimited storage on there, but it's a Premium Membership.. I rarely delete anything off there and they date back to 2008. I have 3 EHD's and Back Blaze backing up my computer constantly, just in case my laptop goes bonkers. I also have Creative Cloud, extra storage on Google Photos, iCloud, I'm sure I have a couple more. I've been trying to keep photos off my phone memory because if I need a picture, all I have to do it go to my Google Photos or the Flickr app and download it back to my phone.

As far as picture organization - mine are by date and I just do a search to find what I'm looking for. Easy Peasy.

So I am now at 607 hard copy photos...with oh so many more to go. But at least I'm getting them stored...and out of albums. And maybe if I can get them organized enough, I'll decide that I can justify a fast (and expensive) scanner. But probably not.

You go girl!! I haven't a clue how many hard copy photos I actually have to scan. It's overwhelming.

I have my photos on an external drive, I once had them on my fixed PC, and when it crashed they spent hours recovering my photos. And I make another backup on another external drive, in case of...

no idea how many I have but years ago i took tons of photo and hardly ever deleted any ( back when Cooper was alive) - this year hardly took any.

on hard drive sorted by year - for example 2014 over 20,000 photos

I use backblaze to back up my photos
