I love the poem you picked, Vicky! It brought back very happy memories. I grew up in New England and my father used to quote "The frost is on the pumpkin" every first frost of the season. Here's my page:

Beautiful page, Diane! I'm loving hearing about the memories the poem is bringing to mind! Thanks for participating,!

Thanks for hosting, Vicky. James Whitcomb Riley was known as the "Hoosier Poet" for his use of the Indiana dialect in his work. His poems often reflected memories of nature and childhood. I was born in Indiana and his poems were studied in every high English class I was required to take.

Used Anna Aspnes stitched pumpkins and stains.

So, you're a Hoosier, too, Christy?! I was also born in Indiana. We lived there until spring break when I was in 3rd grade in 1963 when we moved to California for 10 months. Then we lived in border towns of Ohio/Indiana until January 1966 when we moved to Kentucky.
Thanks for the history of Mr Riley! Your page is simply beautiful! Thanks for participating!

Yep, I was born in Hammond, Indiana. Lived there until high school when we moved to Lansing Illinois. Then off to college in Missouri, ended up in Texas for a job in the semiconductor industry and now living in very sunny Arizona. I’m often wondered where the Indiana dialect came from. Maybe I’ll do some research on that and let you know what I find out. Appreciate your kind words.
