Just curious - CT enabling

Most designers (if not everyone) wants the CT members to post in the CT enabling threads at DST, DSA and/or MSA. I understand, it's free advertising. But I'm just curious? Do you ever look through the thread? Have you ever bought anything just cuz you found it in one of these threads?

I've looked through a couple of times ... but only to see if anyone already posted about the designer I'm there to post about. Never really looked at stuff ... and never bought anything "from the thread".

What lures me in to shopping is the designer's or store's newsletter - or if I'm looking for something in particular, I start an ISO-thread of my own.

I post there because designers require it sometimes, but never really check out what is there.

Way back when I started out I used to check those threads- mostly to see a variety of designers new stuff in one place. Can't say that I didn't buy anything from the thread, but now that CT for such great designers- it's hard to shop elsewhere!

I check their threads - and often leave love!! I feel it's part of being in the "O" family.

The main gallery, being an open gallery, I often find overwhelming/confusing (remember I not a young thing anymore )

I want to look at the "O"'s stuff and support THEIR designers! and yes, I have bought based on layouts in the designer galleries

One of the reasons I often go to a particular other site is that I know my layouts and will be appreciated and constructively commented on!

And I certainly think CT's should support their designer and leave lots of love!!

I don't like ISO threads but will definitely post if I see something I should. I think a lot of those threads are overwhelming. I have never bought something from one of those threads.

I did mention I was on my first coffee

The designer galleries here are full of inspiration!

As far as DST etc I understand the designers wantin the exposure. It's a competitive and tough industry these days

If I so browse DST (occasionally) I will comment on our hOme team

And to add to it, I feel bad when I "post and run" at other galleries, but I try to spend most of my time here. So even when other people post and run here, I can understand why they might need to. But I love our O-Fam and hope that more and more people join in.

Now that i have totally derailed Eva's point...

I've never relly understood the upset about the "post and run" - no way everyone can be active at all forums out there. And the galleries are open, hence it's allowed. Like me - I'm active here, and until last week I didn't CT for any designer here - at the same time I'm not that active at some of the forums the designers I CT for are selling. In a way: I see my CT as "work" and when I'm not working I'm hanging with the people I like. It's like real life

On the other hand I don't really have ONE place I call home like Jacquie is talking about. Maybe if I had that I'd be more like her. I have my designers I "support", some I CT for, others I just stalk LOL
