Again, we are blessed to have Sonja's introduction to this month's theme for us!! She left us so prepared for the rest of the year!!!

This month, we invite you to explore the theme of Rest & Peacefulness in your art journal. In a world that often demands constant movement, rest is a quiet act of self-care and renewal. Peacefulness is the gentle stillness that soothes the soul, the deep exhale after a long day. This challenge is an opportunity to slow down, embrace calmness, and express the beauty of rest through your creativity.

✨ Reflect on a moment of deep peace. What made you feel truly at ease?
✨ Depict symbols of rest and tranquility—soft waves, cozy spaces, a quiet sunrise, or anything that brings you a sense of calm.
✨ Use soft colors, flowing lines, and soothing textures to create a feeling of relaxation.
✨ Explore the contrast between stillness and movement—how does peace settle within you?

Embrace simplicity—sometimes the most peaceful moments are the quietest ones.
Experiment with soft, blended colors, watercolors, or pastels to create a gentle, dreamy effect.
Incorporate words, quotes, or affirmations that encourage rest and mindfulness.

"Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you." – Anne Lamott

"Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself." – Hermann Hesse

"Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are." – Chinese Proverb

"There is peace even in the storm." – Vincent van Gogh

"Don’t try to force anything. Let life be a deep let-go." – Osho

"Taking time to do nothing often brings everything into perspective." – Doe Zantamata

"Peace begins with a smile." – Mother Teresa

"Rest and be thankful." – William Wordsworth

"Be still, and the earth will speak to you." – Navajo Proverb

"You don’t always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go, and see what happens." – Mandy Hale

Depending on how you interpret Rest & Peacefulness, here are some words to guide your journaling:

Serenity & Calm
Stillness
Balance
Tranquility
Ease
Flow

Symbols of Rest
Moon & Stars
Hammock
Feathers
Lotus Flower
Rippling Water

Emotional & Mental Peace
Breath
Surrender
Mindfulness
Letting Go
Gentleness

Take this theme as an opportunity to slow down, create with intention, and embrace the beauty of rest in your journal. We can’t wait to see how you bring Rest & Peacefulness to life! ✨

This is an interesting theme to go after Fortitude - because after we accomplish things that stretch us, we need peace and stillnss to recharge! It's hard to get our strength back when all our energy is depleted to live through our challenges. Take this month to remember how far you have come in life, and How you are incorporating Peace and Rest in your lives.

Here is an Inspiration board:

Here is my page.

I have used Vicki Robinson's new kit "The Garden Within", and it's theme is absolutely perfect for the theme this month!! She has given me permission to use it a little early and show it to you all, and it will be released HERE

You can choose to do a single page, double page, tag, TN each week, or use a divided template—one part for each week. If you don’t have the Divided Template and would like to have it, you can get it here at Dropbox. Thank you to Ona @wombat146 for providing the template choices for us! If you use the template, we would love it if you post incrementally: post one done in the first week, post an image of the two together on the second, and so on until the finished page in the fourth week.

Again—the template is NEVER a requirement, just something fun and different if you want to use it.

Challenge Rules:
  • You have until 11:59 p.m. CST on June 30 to complete your pages for this challenge.
  • To qualify for the drawing, you need to use 80% Oscraps products that are currently in the store (non-Oscraps products or retired O designer products can be used whether the designer is selling elsewhere or not).
  • You need to credit all the products used on your page.
  • You cannot use a page you create for this challenge for another Oscraps challenge.
  • Upload your page to the Art Journal Gallery and then add your layout to the challenge thread. (Below you will find instructions on adding your page to this thread.)

Adding a linked layout from the Gallery to a thread:
  • Upload your layout to the gallery first. In your forum post, click the Gallery Embed icon (little camera).
  • This will open your gallery; simply click on the layout you require, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the Continue button.
  • Your linked layout is now in your post; the image will appear once you have clicked the Post Reply button.

Everyone who participates in any of this month's challenges will be entered into a drawing for a $5 gift certificate to Oscraps. You can receive up to four entries into this month's drawing.

We look forward to seeing your art journaling pages!

Ooooohhhhhhh the ideas are ping-ponging around my mind. What a beautiful kickoff. So excited to see what lands on the page. I love the mood board. Your LO is so peaceful. :heartpumppink: :heartpumppink: :heartpumppink:

I knew right way what stamp I was going to use. The hard part was adding things to compliment the girl and scripture I wanted. I struggled. I wanted to add so much and show I can use grunge or flowers (hahaha) or additional elements but this kept screaming at me to KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) and so I took everything off and the sigh of, yep peace, that flooded me told me this needed to be simple and less was more this time.
