July Art Journal Challenge ~ Week 4 {CONNECTIONS}

Welcome to Week 4 of the July Art Journal Challenge. It is now time to wrap up our theme of "connections." I don't know about you, but this month's topic was more emotional than I expected. I got (more than) a little teary while creating each week's layout.
As I thought about it, I realized that our connections are what make us "us." They are invisible guidelines that engage us as we travel on our journey through our very wondrous lives. They are the stable forces that ground us. They are also stretchy enough to let us fly while keeping us tethered to what is important. Connections are the people, the places, and the events that surround us with all of life's experiences. It's no wonder that I became emotional during this month's Art Journaling.

For this week's challenge, I'd like you to go back and mentally explore how you approached each of the challenges. How did you feel? Did you feel grateful, powerful, and energized? Did you feel lonely, sad, lost, or melancholy? Perhaps you were like me. I felt a blend of joy, sadness, resistance to change, and finally, the ultimate love of my family and closest friends.
However you felt, whatever emotions bubbled through your heart and mind, that is ok. You are ok. Always.

Now, I'd like you to take those emotions and scrap about them. If that is too heavy-- and I get that it could be-- perhaps you can pick one emotion and create your LO based on that. If you can, I'd love to see some threads or stitches on your page to symbolize the connections we have been discussing this month.

You can choose to do a single page, double page, tag, TN each week, or use a divided template—one part for each week. If you don’t have the Divided Template and would like to have it, you can get it here at Dropbox. Thank you to Ona @wombat146 for providing the template choices for us! If you use the template, we would love it if you post incrementally: post one done in the first week, post an image of the two together on the second, and so on until the finished page in the fourth week.

Again—the template is NEVER a requirement, just something fun and different if you want to use it.

Challenge Rules:

  • You have until 11:59 p.m. CST on July 31 to complete your pages for this challenge.
  • To qualify for the drawing, you need to use 80% Oscraps products that are currently in the store (non-Oscraps products or retired O designer products can be used whether the designer is selling elsewhere or not).
  • You need to credit all the products used on your page.
  • You cannot use a page you create for this challenge for another Oscraps challenge.
  • Upload your page to the Art Journal Gallery and then add your layout to the challenge thread. (Below you will find instructions on adding your page to this thread.)

Adding a linked layout from the Gallery to a thread:

  • Upload your layout to the gallery first. In your forum post, click the Gallery Embed icon (little camera).
  • This will open your gallery; simply click on the layout you require, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the Continue button.
  • Your linked layout is now in your post; the image will appear once you have clicked the Post Reply button.

Everyone who participates in any of this month's challenges will be entered into a drawing for a $5 gift certificate to Oscraps. You can receive up to four entries into this month's drawing.

We look forward to seeing your art journaling pages!

Thank you soooo much for sharing this. You are an inspiration! And my dear friend, if I ever hear you say that you struggle with AJ pages, I am gonna have to :whip4: or maybe even :spanking:

HAHA!!! You are seriously killing this!

Nope, no more saying "I cant AJ" I will AJ with all my heart. Now and again I might struggle with the "word" for the month but there is always something and I wont say cant anymore. I dont wanna be :whip4:

Awesome wrapup of the whole month, as always, Chris @faerywings I kind of went out on my own (again). but I know you'll understand why. After Boston was born, Ava put together this little collage of soe of our babies in the family and the strong family resemblance. I just had to use it for the CONNECTION Week 4 Challenge.

I am getting teary again! Family connections are so important and precious. :grouphugyay:

Along with Chris, I didn't exactly follow the prompt- I have had this page in my heart for several weeks This week my sister'
had some horrible occurences, and it was what I needed to express my utter bewilderment and pain. I think when she passes I will grieve greater than I did/do for our Dad. She and I are only 8 years apart.
