Hello and welcome to the July AJ Challenge, Week 2. Our word prompt for July is {CONNECTION}. Although this word might seem similar to other word prompts we've given you, upon researching for the challenge, I've come to believe that it's very unique. This quote that I found pretty much sums up what the word really means.

“Invisible threads are the strongest ties.” – Friedrich Nietzsche

How beautiful is the thought of invisible threads connection us? I really like this next quote too and it follows the same line of thought.

"Everywhere was connected to everywhere else, Pismire had said.” – Terry Pratchett

Let these two quotes sink in for a minute. I found them very powerful and profound.

Here are some of the picture/quotes that I love so much and made them into a mood board forbore inspiration.

Here's my layout. I was so enamored with the first quote and used it on my page. I also used some "threads" and my signature wings to "connect Heaven and earth".

Challenge Rules:
  • You have until 11:59 p.m. CST on July 31 to complete your pages for this challenge.
  • To qualify for the drawing, you need to use 80% Oscraps products that are currently in the store (non-Oscraps products or retired O designer products can be used whether the designer is selling elsewhere or not).
  • You need to credit all the products used on your page.
  • You cannot use a page you create for this challenge for another Oscraps challenge.
  • Upload your page to the Art Journal Gallery and then add your layout to the challenge thread. (Below you will find instructions on adding your page to this thread.)
Adding a linked layout from the Gallery to a thread:

  • This will open your gallery; simply click on the layout you require, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the Continue button.
  • Your linked layout is now in your post; the image will appear once you have clicked the Post Reply button.
Everyone who participates in any of this month's challenges will be entered into a drawing for a $5 gift certificate to Oscraps. You can receive up to four entries into this month's drawing.

We look forward to seeing your art journaling pages!

Oh Cheryl dear, you used one of the most powerful quotes, basically one that leads to the origin of the idea of the sin, I quote here the full quote "Connection is why we're here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives. The power that connection holds in our lives was confirmed when the main concern about connection emerged as the fear of disconnection; the fear that something we have done or failed to do, something about who we are or where we come from, has made us unlovable and unworthy of connection." Dr. Wayne Dyer talked about this idea a lot in several of his conferences, books and a film (the shift), and many other philosophers as well, including my husband, all of them have seen it as the idea of the origin of the sin, and that we are all separate from each other, and separate from God, when in reality that is not the case, all of us being children of the same God are united in some way to the original source which is God himself and from which we cannot separate ourselves. Well, I won't go into any more detail, but it's one of the ideas I'm most passionate about. Thank you so much for doing this. Now I'll think about how to interpret the challenge.
