When I went to the front door to turn off the porch light this morning, I noticed that my bird feeder was leaning down. We have a group of mourning doves who like to hog the feeder perch and when they all take off at the same time, it bounces. I assumed that the bracket had loosened and caused it to droop.
My hubby wakes up and asks if I got any notifications from the feeder overnight. I did, but that isn't unusual and I hadn't checked it yet.
Well, look at this!
A bear had reached up, pulled the feeder down, and was enjoying the spicy bird seed snacks. I have a short video of them sticking its face in the feeder , mostly you see the nose and one eye. But this paw was pretty cute!

We'll take the feeder down for a few days and hopefully, they won't come back. If they do, I'll need to find a different, farther up place to put it.

Yikes, that is a cool photo though. I got cool trail cam pics of the bear at our campground in PA. They are everywhere these days. We saw them twice at our son's home in CT. and it climbed an 8 ft fence to destroy his bee hives.
The bear will be back as soon as it smells fresh birdseed so you may get more photos.

Too close for comfort for me!

I posted the video on FB, not sure if you can see it or not. It is set to public.

This is the first one I saw this season. I think. I can't remember if the other incident was this spring or last fall. Either way, they used to show up regularly in my yard. We had a mom and 2 cubs on the patio once. Gary opened the front door, not realizing there was a cub *right there* on the steps. He shut that door very quickly!

Awesome video, Chris, but I have to admit, a bit creepy that it's so close.
