Is PSE V8 Mac worth it?

Father Christmas just told me to think of what I want for Christmas and when I replied that there really wasn't anything I needed, he told me not to be so dull and to think of something I might WANT instead.

And this got me thinking about PSE V8. Full blown Photoshop is not an option on grounds of expense. I'm currently using PSE V4 Mac and I'm perfectly happy with it, so my question is....is it worth upgrading to V8?

Well I don't know about for a Mac but I would say the program is same as for PC. I have only gone to Ver7 and I love it! I only was using V6 but for some reason everything just seems to work so much better in V7. I think going from V4 to V8 would certainly give you a lot more options to play with. I know with V7 there is new option ..... a 'magic brush' that I can just click on paint my sky darker or lighter if I want to and heaps of other things that I haven't even tried! LOL!

But hey! Selena! if Father Christmas is busting to get you something, GO FOR IT!! :)

I'd say if you were only jumping up 1 version, then no unless a specific feature that you wanted was in the new one. But since you are going up 4 versions, then DEFINITELY get the new one :D :)

Wow Selena. I'm still on PSE 5. I hadn't even thought about it. But now I'm thinking about it!

See know that's the silly thing....I wasn't thinking about it either. I'm so mean that I refuse to spend money unnecessarily, and quite frankly, PSE V4 is working just fine for me. But my DH, opps, I mean Father Christmas, gets very frustrated with me as I never come up with a wish list that he can work from. And in all honesty, I don't NEED PSE V8 - I don't really NEED anything, but if he's going to spend money I'd rather he did it on something useful - LOL.

The step from V4 to V8 is effectively only one proper upgrade (there was no V5 or V7, and V6 apparently never really worked well for Mac), but given that I kept the same mobile phone for 6 years, I'm not that bothered by new fangled sparkliness for the sake of it.

Oh, decisions, decisions.......I just know that if I download the 30 day trial I will be hooked! So I guess that probably answers my own question - LOL!:p

I have a whole different, but kind of related question.
I am working on a windows laptop with PS CS3 (copy from work) and my DH offered me a Mac.... what to do?????
My laptop is perfect, CS3 is perfect, but this Mac sounds so tempting...
If I go back to PSE, do you think that will work or will I get all frustrated?
