Improving Photography Skills

Ok ladies...I have decided that one of my goals for 2013 is to improve my photography skills. And what better time to start than in 2012, right?

Do any of you know of any online digital photography classes? I really need to find something to do just for me...and so I've decided to do Jana Morton's Blending & Beyond class to step up my scrapping skills and now just need a similar class for photography!

31 Day Series

I started doing this one in the srping and it is great. I blogged the first week or so, but then life kinda ramped up and that was that... I hope to start back again soon.

Linda, have a look at the classes at http://www.bigpictureclasses.com/ ... they're very good and with a range to choose from, you can select a course that suits you.

I did Ali Edwards "one little word" and found the place to be wonderful.

Of course you just gotta get shooting Linda, so busy like I am pick up your phone and come play with the list I reposted at FB and put them on Instagram.

that looks like a good way to explore the camera... I wish I knew how it all worked and where to find stuff in it. I've bookmarked it.

Here are some tools I am using...very easy to understand!!

Workbook...in very easy to understand terms...but it's a bit pricey in my opinion...I got it anyway and I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

A blog (FREE TOO) with so much good information, easy to understand, which the above workbook is by one of the bloggers in this series!!

That link is to the last entry in the series, and then there are links to the all the previous entries and some of them are by the one who wrote the above workbook

A good book on Exposure...this is the downloadable version for Kindle, but it's sold in a paper version too....

I have that one by B. Peterson, also his book Learning to See Creatively. The biggest problems with the books is that its too easy to sit down and read them, and then not following through with the actual shooting. But he does a great job explaining and has lots of amazing photography examples.

THAT IS WHY I LOVE THAT WORKBOOK SO MUCH CHRIS!!!!!!!!! It even has a set of printable cards you can print out and laminate and carry with you....CHEAT SHEETS!! Then when you are out shooting, you can refer to them if you need to.

THE BIGGEST THING I FOUND TO BE HELPFUL......................USE YOUR CAMERA EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if you just pick it up and shoot two or three shots....uuhhmmmm yes this would be why you ladies get spammed on facebook with my photos.....I feel like I am starting all over when I miss a few days of shooting....and it doesn't matter what you shoot...the grass..the sky...the running water from the faucet!!! TRY IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just keep shooting...and trying different settings....

Ack! That is way out of my budget! Maybe someday, when I win the lottery LOL

ITA -- the more I shoot, especially off Auto, the better I get a feel for what works and what doesn't. And that is the amazing beauty of Digital-- it costs nothing to take 100 shots and then delete them all :D

Absolutely - not that I follow this advice anymore, but a certain Miss Helen got me picking up my camera all the time a few years back and playing with it is definitely the best way to go.
