How does autumn "tickle" your senses?

Tell me how fall "tickles" your senses.

For me, the colors of leaves changing is one of the most magical things to see. I live in Florida now so I don't see many changing leaves but last year we took a road trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains and it was absolutely gorgeous! Sight really gets a work out.

My sense of smell is brought to life with the aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg in pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread! And my sense of taste gets a work out with these same things.

What about you?

I too love the changing colors of the leaves. I also love wandering through the woods and look for chesnuts and beechnuts.
And I add some fall accents to my livingroom. Besides Spring fall is my favorite season!

Good question, Linda, and one that will keep me focused on the nicer things about Fall. I think this season I will take some of what I learned from the Forest Bathing hikes and go on a few by myself.

I love hearing my dogs walk through the crunchy leaves, they get so excited by that. I love cooking fall foods- apple pie, pumpkin crunch, butternut squash pasta. But one of my favorites is driving on the mountain roads and seeing the leaves change. There is one spot that takes your breath away. The road follows the edge of a reservoir and as you come out of one of the S-turns, you get a view of the water and the mountains on the other side. I used to drive home from work as the sun was setting and it was such a nice part of the day.

We have to wait a bit longer for local "fall color". But we are close to the Blue Ridge (2 hrs) and enjoy that. I have yet to go and find a spot to paint it- maybe this year? I don't like pumpkin spice :wardrobehide: LOL but I do like fall scented candles. This year I am making an Hydrangea wreath with this year's huge blooms. I will be spraying it with fall colors Hope it turns out.
@faerywings I have loved to walk through the forest since I was a little kid! I can still recall all the places where I wondered through the woods and along the rivers. We are looking at a property now in consideration for a home that has a wonderful private forest!!!! GAH!!!! I really like this man's take on Shirin -Yoku. Guess I've been practicing this all my life but didn't know it, hahahahahaa:heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred::pleasantry:

Oh, Yes! Love the changing colors and the cooler temperatures! We spend more time in the woods and I love the smell of the wood burning in the fire pits!

Fall is FOR sure my favorite season...especially the month of October when it starts to get cooler (hopefully), and of course because of Halloween :flyingwitch: The Fall colors and the cloudy cool days are my most favorite parts of Fall :cloud9:

NONE of my hydrangeas here in Alabama bloomed this year!!! All they grew were leaves :bawling:

This is a great question, Linda. I always said "I could smell autumn/Halloween". My dad used to think that was SO funny. But I actually could. He used to asl what was the difference between smelling autumn and smelling Halloween. Sd s child, I didn't have an answer, but now I think that it was the burning of the leaves. People used to be able to burn leaves in their yards and I'm bot sure they can (everywhere) now. Living on "the compound" we burn things now and I can "smell autumn/Halloween again.

Yeah, baby!!!! Halloween is my fam's favorite holiday (Scott apologized to Santa when he was around 6-7 years old for liking Halloween more than Christmas :rotfl: )
But I am not crazy about the weather...*G*

@Amandajk I hope that you get the property you are looking at!
My next-door neighbors have bought most of the land behind our houses and they have trails and a deck that we are allowed to use any time we want. It's wonderful!

Same here as well as with my friend across the street. I have two and my friend has two. Mine got huge, but not one flower. What did I do wrong?
It is SO crazy!! I have four of them in different parts of the yard and not a single flower!!! I have NO CLUE what happened...glad I am not the only one...maybe it was something to do with the weather?? Just so odd...my other plants all bloomed normally!
