How do you exercise or do you?

I spend a lot of hours at the computer doing CT'work' and find that I need to get up and move. How do you exercise or not?

I have had a knee replacement on the left knee and now the right knee is showing signs of arthritis. Rather than go through another replacement and wait 18 months. I have been advised to strengthen the leg muscles which studies have shown to alleviate the pain. So.. every morning I am up and completing 1/2 hour of exercises including weights, then work out on the stationary bike for a minimum of 1/2 hour.

I have my own "circuit" that I try to do at least every other day. I do some ballet-based moves (Calenetics). wall push aways. squats and then I work out with weights. I walk as much as I can, too. When we go to a store, I walk up and down every aisle.
 
When we shop at Costco that is a work out in itself! :rotfl:
When my DD and I go to any big box store, I try to get my steps in. She always giggles at me when she sees me walking the perimeter and then we run into each other.
 
I have to be careful what activities I do b/c of the multiple back issues I have but I stretch and do core exercises every day and walk a lot.
 
I do yoga several times a week, I love that. It's good for my mind and my flexibility. I also have been hiking around once a week. I don't know how much that is considered exercise since it's walking, stopping and checking out bugs, walking a little more, and then taking pictures of mushrooms. I should add cardio/weights but haven't been able to get the motivation for that just yet.
 
@faerywings every little bit of movement helps. It is being stationary that is the biggest problem. My daughter (MSc. BHK) says even a 10 minute walks help the body.
 
walk the dog once a day for about 15 - 20 minutes , today wasnt hot so took a longer walkabout 35 minutes but basically i am very sedentary at computer all day. i do get up just to stretch my legs and go to bathroom or get a drink a lot so never sitting overly long without a break.

about a minute is all i can handle on an exercise bike -i haveone at my apt gym but havent used it in quite a while.

That's really good to know, I'm able to get moving when the weather is warmer but I know as soon as winter hits, I'll be sitting at my desk complaining. :desk3:
BTW- what is a MSc. BHK? I googled but I came up with a lot of things for Hong Kong ;)
 
@faerywings MBc Masters of Science BHK Bachelors of Human Kinetics (the study of human anatomy and movement) She is currently instructing at 2 universities. Am I proud or what? lol
 
My AppleWatch keeps reminding me to stand up and move for at least a minute and I try to get at least 10,000 steps a day. The latter does not always happen, but I find that having a good audiobook helps - I can spend an hour or so pacing the living room :) On most weekdays I do about 30 min of cardio on our stationary bike (doctor's orders as the latest checkup revealed my heart health is worse than my husband's, who is 13 years older.. ooops....).
