Holidays without parents

7 months ago we said goodbye to my father, the loss is still very big.
This will be the first Christmas and New Year, without my parents and without my parents-in-law.
I don't know how I'm going to get through these holidays, and even though I know they would want our lives to continue, it's still hard.
 
I know the feeling. I have lost both of my parents as well and it is a very unsettling feeling. What you do, what I did, is just I try to remember all of the things that they loved about the holidays and celebrate that. Allow myself to cry when I needed to cry but not to feel guilty if I actually had some moments of happiness.

Yes, it is hard. Praying for your comfort in the family that is left behind. Help them and it will help you.
 
I'm so sorry for your losses, Vera. My parents have passed too, and it's still hard to have special holidays without them.
 
Ik kan me voorstellen dat het een emotionele kerst zal zijn voor jullie. Maar het komt goed. Met een lach en een traan vinden jullie vast je weg. Veel sterkte!
 
Yes the loss of your parents is huge!! Sending all my best wishes your way Vera!! I try to remember how much my parents loved the holiday season and try to keep their traditions alive at Christmas! :hug2:
 
Oh Vera, HUGE (((((HUGS))))) to you!!!! :hug1: I know it must be very painful...I have always considered my Nana and Popa to be my parents since they really were the ones to take care of me up until 3rd grade, and I don't speak to my "mom" anymome, so things are different on my end. My sweet Nana is living with my Aunt in Colorado now, and my other Aunt that I talk to is, as well. I am happy that they all have each other, and I am SO very sorry for you that you are feeling the loss of your parents even more right now...I wish I could give you a massive hug in person :brokenheart::heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred:

thank you, i have cried a lot these days and it does feel good, for me it's those beautiful memories that make me cry now.
I know it's a phase of mourning that I have to go through, but I'm a melancholic person who has a very hard time letting go.
It will take a while before I get over it, but it will be okay. I wish you joyful holidays

We will also try to keep the tradition alive, and I am sure they will celebrate with us up there.

Ach Jeannette, ik heb al wat afgeweend de laatste dagen, maar dat is de pijn van het loslaten, maar alles komt goed !
