Help, Please - Inbox Maintenance

I know I know how to delete old message and clear space but for the life of me, I can find no option anywhere in my box to delete them. I'm obviously holding my mouth wrong again! I'm hoping it's just me, but you never know. Can someone help, please?

This is one of the negatives of this kind of board. You can "leave" a conversation, but it doesn't delete it. They're all still there. Unless there is a way to do it on the back end, they can't be deleted.

I totally didn't realize that but, yep, they don't go away

Mine go away when I click leave and then click ignore future messages.

That does work, but it doesn't delete them. They are still there. If you don't say "ignore future messages" they will pop back into your inbox. I don't know why the creator wrote the program this way.

However, it does clear up space in your inbox. They just still reside in the code for the forum. Now I'm not admin, so I don't know if they have access to actually deleting them in the back side private part of the forum.

@seniorgal Most forums have a limit on the number of messages you can keep in your box, plus for CT members that do challenges for both special events and monthly challenges you can wind up with tons of messages to look through. I kind like to get rid of what no longer applies. It clears up space and keeps me organized.

@VickiStegall @wombat146 I know other sites use this software and I can totally delete messages on them. Is there a way to do that that just isn't turned on? You two must have thousands in your boxes. That would drive me nuts!

@Susan - s3js , @wombat146 and @VickiStegall — from what I can see on the admin side of the house, a conversation is automatically deleted once everyone in the conversation has left it. Other sites that use this software may have an add-on module that permits the conversation starter to delete a conversation, but we don't have that module.

I think so …. Click the envelope and then “show all”. You should see a list of conversations and a tiny checkbox next to each one. Click one checkbox and look at the bottom of the screen for a dark gray pop up window. From there you can choose to “select all” which selects all conversations on that page. In the Choose Action box you can choose “Leave Conversations”.
