Hi there! I'm Laura.

I've been a shopper here for awhile but new to the community so I wanted to stop in and say hi.

I started scrapbooking back in 2003 and did paper, project life, cardmaking, and finally digital around 2010. I fizzled out with scrapbooking and really all of the paper crafts around 2014. Then, 2021 started thinking about it again and came back. Now all digital. Over the years about 95% of the paper supplies went away, and besides that we don't really have the space for me to have a dedicated craft room so this is working out great. Actually I do a little travelers notebooks and hobonichi but the supplies are teeny tiny compared to the old days.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to hanging out here. I recognize quite a few familiar faces.

Hi Laura and welcome to this wonderful place, To scrap digitally you don't need much space, or yes enough on your hard drive and possibly external drives. Because believe me, you keep coming across nice stuff.
 
Hi Laura and welcome to The O Family!! Your time frame sounds about like mine. I started paper scrapping way back when, then when Project Life came out on the phone app, I did that for a few years. Now, I'm completely digital. I try to do some physical Art Journaling, but don't have a lot of paper stuff left and it's such a mess!!! Jump right in and I can't wait to see your creations!!

Welcome, Laura!!!! :wavinghello: I think it was around 1998 when I started paper scrapping, and then I got into making linkware sets for people to download for free to use on their websites in exchange for linking back to my blog, then in 2004 I started designing digital scrapbooking products :) I have never really been into creating digital layouts (I'm a weirdo, I know :giggle4:)...I have done some, but designing papers is what I am really into. And UGH...the storage space can be a struggle in BOTH paper and digital....LOL I ended up gifting most of my paper stuff to friends, so at least I don't have to deal with that anymore, and the clean up after creating a few pages...:beatingheart: I hope you end up sticking around regularly! I look forward to seeing your creations :heartpumppink:

Isn't it great not having to clean up paper-scrapping supplies? I used to paper scrapping during my kids' nap time way back when. By the time I dragged everything out and set it up, the two of them would be bouncing out of bed. ;)
I google Hobonichi, is it like a planner or journal? Can you tell me a little more about how you scrap that?

It is very liberating to get rid of all of the paper stash. I was doing it bit by bit and then I thought of the art teacher at my son's school and she was thrilled to get it all. No looking back now!

I think paper scrapping is wonderful if you have a room for it and can close the door and not have to clean up all the time.
The hobonichi is a Japanese planner/journal with thin but sturdy paper. I use it for daily journaling and don't do much in the way of decorating but there is a whole community of people who draw, paint, decorate with stickers and ephemera. Its a whole rabbit hole. Instagram is full of the hobonichi gorgeousness.
 
Welcome to Oscraps, Laura! My scrapping journey is similar to most--started in paper supplies, then transitioned to digital, and am 100% digital now. I donated about 95% of my paper supplies a couple of years ago to a couple who are site hosts for a campground and said they would use them for arts and crafts.

I look forward to seeing your work!

I think many of us share your experience, including me! My paper supplies are still in storage, but I was also divesting and shared with my youngest's teachers. Many, many school projects for both my boys benefited them and got them extra marks for creativity as well.

I was always paralyzed with the fear I'd make a mistake when I paper scrapped. Now? The back button is my best friend - and I can do things digitally that I could see in my head but not execute in paper!

I just know you will love it here and hope you make the O your home away from home!
