Hello from Germany!

Hi, I’m new here and wanted to say hello!

I’m Maja, almost 39 years old, living on Rügen in Northern Germany, married, mother of four kids (two girls, 11 and 9, and two boys, 6 and 4 years old). English is not my first language, so I might make some mistakes, for which I’m very sorry.

I’m a stay-at-home mom at the moment, my husband works for the Lutheran church as a Christian child- and youth worker.

I started paper scrapping in 2008 and switched to digi because I wanted to contribute something to tumblr, where sharing digital stuff is the way things work, and since I never had something I had created on my own to put there I thought: “Hey- let’s try this!” The average tumblr-user is 16-23 and most likely NOBODY there had ever heard of scrapbooking before I came along with my layouts, but I quickly became addicted and am now hoarding stuff like a hamster… really, I can’t stop shopping.

My style changed a lot since the beginning, but there are some fixed marks about my scrapbooking: I love templates, and stopped being ashamed of that somewhere down the road. After all, I have to like my layouts, and I like the template ones, so…. I LOOOOOVEEE templates. I’m also a sucker for pocket page layouts!

I tried doing art journaling, because I love the look and the messages behind it: emotional scrapping is totally my cup of tea, and I love everything that’s dark and dramatic, but… I can’t do it. I might have messy thoughts and a somewhat messy home, but somehow (I DON’T KNOW WHHHYYYY) I’m a NEAT scrapper, although I put lots of elements on my pages. I always put my neat little pics in their neat little spots, and even my clusters (I like clusters) look somehow… tidy. And totally boring, especially compared to the contents of the Oscraps gallery. Meh. It drives me insane, but I stopped forcing myself to change… at least I started using a little bit more paint and stamps and stuff and became a lot more generous with the variety of elements I use, so I’m improving. And I love mis-using classical Art Journaling kits for my neat layouts, so if you’re an Art Journaling designer and feel a sudden change in the Matrix… that could be me, using your gorgeous kit on a freaking pocket page template. SORRY!!!

When I don’t scrap, I’m out and about with my kids or dabble in writing… fan fiction, mostly.

I’m a mad (MAAAD! Bat-nuts CRAZY!!! RABID! Totally OBSESSED!) fan of the US procedural show “The Mentalist”. I curse the day I first laid eyes on that DARN show, but now it’s too late, and I’m hopelessly lost. The new season just started, and during the season, I’m scrapping about “The Mentalist” LIKE A MOUSE INSIDE A HAMSTER-WHEEL… I never stop. So you’ll probably be forced to look at A LOT of Mentalist-layouts, for which I apologize… sincerely. I try to avoid it in challenges, but when the topic fits too good… meh. And if you now think: “Oh, I don’t find The Mentalist half bad myself, so let’s have a look at this crazy woman’s stuff.”, I’m so sorry, I have to disappoint you again- I’m also a Jane/Lisbon-shipper (which means I would like to see these two in a romantic relationship VERY MUCH), so I manage to scrap a perfectly alrighty crime show into a mushy romance with practiced ease… and yes, I hate my life, too. Really, I’m terribly sorry.

If you still agree to have me, I’ll be SO VERY GLAD.

I lurked for quite a while on this forum, but finally thought: heeeeyyyyyyyyy… maybe I should become active, it looks like a NICE place. And (of course) the shop sells GORGEOUS stuff, that’s a bonus . I don’t complain.

Thank you for reading this terribly long introduction! You might guess correctly that I’m kind of chatty (at least in written words) and like the noise my keyboard makes … I apologize.

I can’t wait to meet all of you!!!

Oooh a big welcome back to you!!! I am pretty chatty too. check out my post count,.
I love the Mentalist and would love to see a Lisbon/Jane Ship (my DD is a big tumblr addict and tells me about her music Ships LOL)

Keep trying at Art Journaling-- I never scrapped that way until last year but I love it. I get a bit of song lyrics or a quite stuck in my head and I end up "scrapping" it while I am driving or in the shower.

So glad to have you join us!

Welcome. I love how chatty you are. I like knowing something about the scrappers here, and it often takes quite a while learning about them through their pages, so you gave me a head start. BTW, I am a hoarder too - can't have enough supplies!
