I have put on 20 pounds in the last 6 months.... ok, so I've had a bit going on.... but I needed to lose 20 or so when that happened. So, now I'm needing to lose 40-50 pounds.

We used to have a "healthy O's" area of the forum here where we supported each other, shared ideas, etc. in our efforts to lose weight and/or get healthy. What do you think? Want to bring it back? Or maybe we should do a Facebook group instead. What do you all think?

I love the "O"
I have lost about 12 kg the last year without any diet or healthy eating, just stopped eating to much cakes and chips.....
I won´t be a big help because I still don´t eat very healthy, but why not. I prefer a forum category, not a FB group

My daughter and I were talking yesterday about how we want to do a no-pressure health improvement this year. I am totally in.
I do better here on a Forum than in a FB group. I belong to a Gratitude group for Chronic Illness/Pain and as much as I should read the posts, I end up scrolling right past that and into the silly dog pictures.

I lost a lot with a paleo like eat plan (The "Voedselzandloper"very succesful in Belgium- where it originated and the Netherlands)

I lost a lot but sticking to healthy habits without becoming to fanatic is hard. I also could some help and support with it..

I prefer a forum above fb, because you miss a lot of post if you are not active because FB decide that you aren't interested anymore..

This is awesome! I'll see about getting that forum set back up over the next couple of days as I have time unless someone else who has the power beats me to it.

Well you already know that I am all in with this!! I have put on a bunch of weight over the past year and really need to take off at least 30 lbs! Ugh so hard to do when you are my age and have thyroid issues. But with the help of all of you great O's I should be able to accomplish it!

I'm in! I was just talking to my hubs this morning and said that starting Jan 1st I am going to have to diet. For five years I faithfully went to the gym and zumba, followed a LCHF diet and kept the weight off. But I haven't gone to the gym this past 1.5 yrs and gained 25 lbs. I also fell off the LCHF diet too. Menopause and thyroid disease make it harder too, but I need to do this for my health.

I'm in. I'm specifically looking for ideas of main dishes with NORMAL ingredients. (Now...I realize that my idea of normal and your idea of normal are probably two different things...but...). I'm tired of finding healthy recipes that are chock full of weird vegetables and grains or are focused on salmon.....Or have strong seasonings from other cuisine....

We just want some normal, plain jane ideas. We're midwesterners, not adventurous eaters....but those are practically the only recipes I can find anywhere. It makes it really hard to find easy, healthy stuff my family will like.

Sounds like a plan! Forum for me too.

Just this morning I finally stepped on my scale, moment I dreaded for months now, and even though it wasn't as bad as I thought comparing to my last numbers, I do not feel good in my own skin and I am, let's be blank, too fat!! My knees won't take any more of this and I really need to at least exercise more to get back some muscle in this body of mine so that I can at least walk for a long time ;)

I need to cut back sweet things, chocolate first too. I have been very very bad at eating and I need to change that. Might not last long but it's worth a try.

Looking forward to all of us supporting each other! Let's have a healthy 2017!!

Nini- we still have way too many cookies and chocolates in the house and I will eat them until they are gone :(
But I am increasing the veggies I am eating so at least there is that.

I'd love to have a little area here!! Working out is such a part of my life b/c it's been a big part of my own journey. (Lost 130+ several years ago).

Wow, Amanda...that's awesome!

I would love to have a forum just for health/exercise where we could share recipes, exercise tops, struggles, victories and just any kind of thoughts/ideas about healthy living.

BTW....I had decided that I didn't want to count calories, didn't want to have make a big deal about food and just try to eat healthy....well...that went out the window today. I woke up with a backache (again) and my knees were bugging me....so I went online, rejoined WW and will give it 3 months to see if it helps me to be accountable and start losing some of the 25 lbs I'd like to lose. I'll continue to mostly eat gluten free but will eat more carbs than I used to (healthy carbs). We'll see how I am doing by Apr 1st. If I've lost weight I will renew my WW acct again and keep going.

i'm in ..I need to loose weight too. we started swimming once a week which feels great but then there's lunch at the swimmingpool after , they provide healthy soup and homemade bread and..cakes and chocolate.
I've started eating less bread and more glutenfree stuff and follow recipies from a Healthy Eating Bible. They are so nice. even my brother in law who is a very fussy eater likes it.
No potatoes except sweet ones, no bread , lots of veg and fruit and fish and eggs ,porridge or eggs for breakfast. Wholemeal pastas and one or was it 2 days a week you can eat anything for dinner.
My problem is that I love bread and couldn't care a bit about dinner.
Mind you being ill and not in my own house meant that I got back into myold eating habits. So new year a new bell will be ringing and I'll go back to that food bible .

So excited! I always on the lookout for vegetarian recipes that don't only rely on tofu. I am also trying to cut back on coffee and increase water which are both bad for POTS. It is so hard to do that at this time of year.
