Tell him you would love to receive it as a gift any time. :D If you don't have a real live camera store you could get a little feel at Best Buy...it just isn't ideal. :( Play with your dad's camera and see if you like the feel of it or if you have a friend with a canon see if you can play with theirs.
 
See if they have one in Greensboro...would be a good excuse to meet up there, right? We don't have one in Fayetteville either.
