Extreme Weather

We are experiencing a lot of severe weather this summer, more so than normal. Tonight we have had hours of storms rolling through - grapefruit sized hail, tornado warnings only 15 min. from here, and lots of rain and thunder. I really hate this weather, so posting some pics to distract myself lol

The damage is our good friends, the hail is a friend's picture as well.

What kind of extreme weather do you get where you live?

@tjscraps Gonna try this one more time. Trina, that looks more like Oklahoma than Canada! That would make me take pause, and weather doesn't scare me easily as I've lived in Tornado Alley a good part of my life.

We have nothing sever here but lots of folks have asked about us because of the flooding. This part of Kentucky floods in March, not usually in the summer. We just have drought in July and August.

Stay safe!

Yikes, that is some horrid weather! After what feels like non-stop rain for months, we finally have a beautifully sunny winter's day today. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will last, but with the crazy weather patterns lately, I'm not holding my breath.

We had about 2 weeks of hotter than normal weather - over 100 degrees!! Then a couple of days ago we got much needed rain and we got a lot and voila! It's cooled back down where it should be. It feels so good to be in the 80's. We really needed that rain, too!

That's crazy, Trina!! That can do major damage! I've never seen hail that big, and look at that sky! Crazy! Are you all okay?

Here in Michigan we've had a lot of severe weather warnings or watches but luckily nothing horrendous has happened locally. A city about 3 hours north of me did have some significant tornado damage earlier this summer. We get tornadoes in Michigan but not as many as the states further south. Hail like those photos and the recent flooding in Kentucky reminds me of a saying that a local radio handyman always used to say...."water always wins".

Our extreme weather is kinda normal...northern Florida with it's heat and humidity. I think it's hotter than normal and yesterday a storm was hanging overhead but never broke and it was just 10000% humid...ugh.

This is our first summer here in the BC interior but we've been told that June was much cooler than normal (seemed hot to us), there was extreme river flooding which happens every year but this July it was the worst in many years and the wind here kicks up like crazy and our smallest dog gets pushed along by it. So nothing too crazy, not like your hail balls (wow).

Oh my gosh @tjscraps , those hailstones are crazy!!!

It's wild here in New Zealand at the moment (late winter). Friends' windows blown out etc. I am surprised I slept last night as we have a metal vent near our bedroom and when the wind hits it a certain way it booms and bangs! Lots of big seas and damaging waves as well, so glad I don't own coastal property!

@tjscraps Trina that is the largest hail I have EVER seen! So sad for your friend. Those clouds- we have seen A LOT of those over the nation this summer. Odd. They are shelf clouds. Come to think of it, they have been seen in several nations! Photos have looked like this:

Definitely something has changed-

Yes, we are ok. Thankfully I haven't heard of any deaths resulting from that storm, just a lot of property and crop damage.

Good to hear! I've heard of golf ball sized hail, but never that big! When we were kids, I remember once, when we had hail, we asked mom if we could keep the hail stones in the freezer and of course, she wouldn't let us. LOL

I saw photos on my news feed of windshields cracked like that from the hail in Canada. I didn't realize that it was where you live. So sorry that happened to your friend's car :(
I also saw photos of the fires where @bcgal00 lives. It has been a very bad weather summer.

Where I am in NJ, we are in drought conditions but not as bad as it has been before. I hope it doesn't get that bad, we have well water and that always makes me nervous. Historically our extreme weather is either blizzards or hurricanes. Super Storm Sandy was the worst storm that hit my area in a long time. Wow- that was 10 years ago. Time flies...

We have had crazy thunderstorms the last few nights. Not a big deal for me coming from the Midwest but apparently it is notable here. We get thunder and lightning here, but it doesn't last long. These past couple of nights have just lit up the sky and it has gone on for several hours.
