Have you ever heard about it?
I was watching a ghost show and there was this science guy there explaining people's experiences based on science. Then he mentioned "exploding head syndrome". Basically, it's a thing that happens either when you are about to fall asleep or wake up: you hear a loud sound, like an explosion, a bang, a gun shot or something. Nothing has happened, you just "hear" it inside your head. It's not part of a dream, it feels absolutely real. You really HEAR this!
I had never heard of this. However: I have experienced it many times. I've been so annoyed, getting up looking for the source, and everyone else (including the cats) has just been sleeping. I couldn't believe how they just could keep on sleeping! Also, I have been very annoyed over somone in the neighborhood that seems to be hunting nearby late at night. I mean, that's not even legal!
Now I understand! It's all in my head! LOL
