Earthquake

Danesa

Danesa
I was sitting in bed this morning, playing my morning daily puzzles and all of a sudden the bed started to shake. I thought, oh geez, something shifted in the bedside table and pressed the vibrate button on my bed remote. Nope, it was not that. I jumped up to see if a big truck was idling in front of the house. Nope. Then, about 10 minutes later, someone on Nextdoor app asked if anyone felt the shaking. There were a lot of people responding "Yes," including me. About 10 minutes later, the news said there was a 5.1 earthquake. Its epicenter was about 80 miles north of me. After I found out what happened I laughed so hard at myself...who, in their right mind, thinks of the bed vibrator first, when the bed starts shaking. hahaha I am my own entertainment. :)

LOL... yep - that is entertaining! We had 3 earthquakes here in New Mexico - all in the light range 2.5 to 3.7 in the last 12 days. One in Los Alamos and 2 in Loving. I hear a rumbling day before yesterday and thought it was a heavy truck nearby. After living in Southern California for years... I usually recognize when we have one.

That's a scary thing to wake up to! Glad it wasn't any worse - so 80 miles isn't very far! Yikes! Love that you found something to laugh over. :bounce:

28 years ago there was also a small earthquake in the Netherlands that we could feel in Belgium. Now, I hadn't felt or heard nothing. But suddenly my husband jumps out of bed and shouts get out get out of the bed!!!!!
He stormed down the stairs and i thought to myself what is wrong ? So i went down too and my husband was already outside!
I asked what happened, he said: the whole house started to shake, the lights moved ... i asked wasn't it a truck, no no i don't know what it was. But since we had our floor from the renovation (a few tons of weight) in our attic, he was afraid that the house would collapse and we would lie under it, which is why he immediately flew out of bed.
A little later i passed out, simply because i was shocked by how terrified he was, while i had heard nothing whatsoever. So later we heard on the radio that there had been an earthquake.

that is so crazy. I lived through the big Northridge Quake 1994 in Los Angeles, 7 miles from the epicenter. My daughter was 3 months old and her crib moved across the room

Ha, Ha Danesa you crack me up!! We have Earthquakes here all of the time, most are small but some are pretty good shakers. I usually think its just my DH snoring so loudly that it shakes the bed LOL. Then wake up to find out we have had yet another Quake off the coast of the Island.

Oh my goodness I’ve actually done that too. When I lived in AZ, I woke one night to the bed shaking and I thought my friend was messing with me and shaking my bed
