Do you have an all time favorite movie?

Trying to pin down one is seriously hard for me, but pretty much anything Johnny Depp, I had a real 'thing' for him. I think he's a phenomenal actor and maybe it's because I'm kind of a off the wall character myself, I relate. I'm sad about what's been the big news lately, but it doesn't take away his acting ability.

Pirates of the Carribbean--I still remember belly laughing in the theater at the first scene when he steps on the dock.--hubs loved:floorlaugh::floorlaugh:
Chocolat--that one got me hot and bothered and it wasn't the chocolate--hubs 5 minutes :ilovechocolate:
Edward Scissorhands---hubs didn't last 5 minutes, but I actually cried in parts:bawling:
What's Eating Gilbert Grape--baby Leonardo de Caprio--another tear jerker for me on many levels--hubs no:bawling:
Finding Neverland--can you spell BABE people? And it introduced Freddy Highmore to the world.--hubs liked:cheer::banana6::cloud9::waving2::waving2:
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory--truest to the original book, Roald Dahl IRL, didn't like grownups, I can relate to a certain degree-hubs no
I didn't watch Alice in Wonderland, it wasn't a favorite book of mine.
He made a bunch of duds too, but what actor doesn't, Gigli anyone?:sick:
I also have the DVDs of 21 Jumpstreet, never watched it when it was on, but I get why there was a frenzy.:banana6::cheer::banana::cucumber::dancing6::dancingbfly::bouncing:
Johnny Depp is also very loyal to the people he works with. There are a number of the pirates who show up in several of his movies.
Ok, I will go take a cold shower now. Like I said, off the wall. That's me,

I totally agree with you my dear sweet friend, Johnny Depp is an incredible good actor, and I loved Pirates of the Caribbean and Edward Scissorhands (this is a fave for me, partially because I love Winona Ryder's performance, she is one of my fave actress).

I didn't watch Alice in Wonderland either, actually I don't like the book, makes me feel anxious, lol

I haven't watched yet some of the movies you mentioned, but adding them to my list, thank you so much for increasing my list :)

In my case, when a handsome actor acts :love:, I can't even concentrate watching the movie, the only thing I have in my mind is "but what a beautiful thing I'm seeing :lovey3: if someone asks me what the movie was about, I don't even know.:floorlaugh:

I haven't watched that many of his movies but like to watch him a lot. We were fans of the "El Mariachi" movies so went to see Once Upon a Time in Mexico where Depp's character stole the show. That wasn't until 2003, but that's when I first knew about him. I've always said Captain Jack Sparrow was the most beautiful pirate ever.
 
When Harry Met Sally, Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music to name a few.
My favorite Xmas movie is "A Christmas Story" (red ryder bb gun!)
I almost forgot The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings! I have seen the movies several times and have read the books many times.

Miss Jeanne...you and I share the SAME LOVE interest...oh no....:giggle4: I agree about so much of what you have said, and it was hilarous that my family knew about how much of a crush I have on Johnny, and after the first Pirates movie came out, they hung up a small poster from a magazine from the movie of him in on the inside door of one of my kitchen cabinets :floorlaugh: I LOVED it and kept it there, and the next three times that we moved, I moved it with us and hung it up inside one of the kitchen cabinets to just continue the joke...and plus, hello, EYE candy :rotfl: Going to get spices to cook with was always a pleasure!! LOL I lost it during our last move, not sure where it is :( I am hoping to find it one day and tape it back up again! :heartpumplove:

All of them are great movies! I have seen When Harry met Sally at least 10 times, and always catches me.
I remember that I watched A Christmas story, and I laughed a lot with the scene of the leg lamp :giggle4: when they open the fragile box, etc.
 
The Lord of the Rings, all three of them.
I’ll watch them at least twice a year, and more if I’m feeling down about anything.
It’s also my favorite book, but it’s easier to knit watching a movie.
 
I see a lot of us like “Dirty Dancing” (1987). I also liked “Flashdance” (1983) and “Footloose” (1984). They are really good movies that make you want to dance along. But my absolute all-time favorite movie is “It’s Complicated” (2009). It first came out around my birthday that year and my kids took me to the movies to see it. I always enjoy watching it and still laugh each and every time that it is aired on my DirecTV schedule. Another favorite of mine is “Father of the Bride Part II” (1995) with Steve Martin. There are other, more serious movies that I enjoy. But I mostly like upbeat movies that make me laugh.

I love all your favorite movies, I think that I've watched several times "it's complicated", Steve Martin's movies are so funny
;) I love dancing and romantic comedy too.

Oh... I have so many that I love. Have a lot on VHS tapes and i am so excited when I find them on DVDs.

One of my all time favorites was the original "Brian's Song" with James Cann and Billy Dee Williams. Just found it on DVD and have played it several times.
Of course, Gone With the Wind and Somewhere in Time.
Patrick Swayze's "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost"
Many of Tom Hanks movies: Cast Away, Apollo 13, Sleepless in Seattle,
"The Lake House" with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves is one that I have watched over and over.
"The King's Speech" with Colin Firth is fantastic.
And I love the musicals... "Sound of Music", "Grease", "Camalot", "Singing in the Rain"
 
@VickiStegall The Goonies is one that we watched with our kids over and over again. We enjoyed it every time. Every now and then one of my "kids" (who are adults now) will quote Chunk, "Gee mister, you smell like phys ed!" They tell that to their dad when he comes in from cutting the grass.

@BrightEyes I love Brian's Song. Tom Hanks is such a versatile actor and I like everything he stars in.

OMG, yes! How could I forget Brian's Song.

Remember the Titans is fantastic, I've watched that many, many times with Denzel Washington.

The one I watch & cry thru every Memorial Day probably is my favorite movie "Taking Chance" with Kevin Bacon.
 
There are way too many for me to list them.
I will share a few that I have and will continue to watch over again:

An Affair to Remember; Charade ( like Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn) - actually most of Audrey's movies I have seen a few times - Sabrina, Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffanys.
You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle - both with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan
To Kill a Mockingbird ( read the book after seeing the movie and it was good to picture Gregory Peck as the main character of the book)
 
What a question... I'm not a big movie fan, I prefer shows, but if I were to pick one, I'd say Notting Hill... and a couple of Mission Impossible ones - those are fun to watch!
 
@VickiStegall I too love The Goonies, and the Princess bride, so funny movie the last one, and Cary Elwes looked so handsome in that movie :loveyeyes:
@BrightEyes I love Dirty dancing too, I think I've seen it so many times that I already know the dialogues by heart, but I always enjoy watching it again and again, I think it's one of those movies that you can watch several times and never get bored of it. Love Tom Hanks' movies too, he is a very good actor!
@A-M I will read the book and re-watch the movie To Kill a Mockingbird, thank you so much for the advice my dear.
@Jam-on-toast I too love Notting Hill, actually I love many movies from Julia Roberts, except few ones.

I forgot to mention "Taking Chance"... I have watched it many times. My hubby is retired Navy... My husband's oldest brother - a marine - died in Vietnam. So we have been part of the grieving family. Taking Chance really resounded with me. It is a true story about brining a Marine who died in Vietnam home. Before my hubby retired, we and another Navy couple had the sad duty of telling a Navy wife about the death of her husband from a car accident...

OMGosh, Cary Grant is one of my all time favorites. I just watched a Documentary on him that I'd not seen before. It was on Prime Video called "Becoming Cary Grant". His real name was Archibald Leach. It was SO good. I loved Charade, too, and all the movies he made with Hitchcock. According to this documentary, Hitchcock changed the direction of his film career.

You just gave me goosebumps and I read your message and got goosebumps all over again. My dad, my brother and a lot of my rellies were vets. My brother did two tours in Vietnam with the Navy Seabees. Patriotism and love of country were a HUGE deal in my family, and I am still that way. Zero tolerance for people who disrespect the flag and Vietnam vets were treated appallingly AWFUL. Whenever I see a vet I thank them for their service, but particularly, Vietnam vets. I had a secret crush on the boy behind me in the band who played tuba. He was an 18-year-old helicopter pilot in Vietnam, I don't think he was there even 6 weeks. I grew up in a town of about 2500 and we lost 3 young men in Vietnam. My brother was called a baby killer, and he hated wearing his uniform home on leave because of the treatment he received, and I will NEVER EVER watch ANYTHING with Jane Fonda. It could be the world's greatest movie, and I wouldn't it. Can you tell I have a huge soap box when it comes to patriotism and our military? Thank you to you and your husband for your service, because you and your family sacrificed too.

That sounds pretty interesting, I went to search the documentary, and I found it, planning to watch it after cook the food, thank you so much for the heads up :heartpumplove::heartpumppink:
