Every year after Santa comes back from his big Christmas Eve trip delivering presents he and Mrs. Claus alway have a party for all of the elves to celebrate another year of hard work at the North Pole and doing our best to make children's dreams come true. Santa and Mrs. Claus always make their favorite Christmas beverage for us. It's called a Tom & Jerry. It only comes in one cup so Tom & Jerry must both be in there, I've never seen them, in fact I have no idea who Tom & Jerry are, but I know they taste REALLY good. Santa said a very nice human name Howard left him the recipe along with the milk and cookies and treats for the reindeer. It was a couple of years ago, I think like 1952, that was a couple of years right? Anyway, Howard worked for the Post Office so he knew all about the delivery biz, when you're in the biz, that's what you call it, and he new how busy the biz was at Christmas so he thought Santa might need a treat when he got back to the North Pole. The recipe used eggs and Howard said you put the yellow parts in one bowl and the white slimy parts in another bowl but you could let any of the yellow touch the slimy or it would ruin it which seemed odd since they were touching inside the egg. Then he said you beat the slimy stuff till it was really stiff, Santa tells us not to fight so I didn't know how we were going to do that, but then he explained about 'mixers.' After the slimy stuff is stiff it's white and stiff not clear and slimy, then you beat the yellow stuff, but it doesn't get stiff it just gets light and lemon colored. I wonder why they just don't use lemons? Then you put the stiff white stuff back on the mixer and pour the not stiff yellow stuff in and mix them together. So I wonder how come he didn't same some work and beat them together to begin with? The you add powdered sugar, LOTS and LOTS of powdered sugar, Howard said it HAD to be SWEET or it wasn't any good, he'd stick his magic finger in, taste it and then add more sugar and a little vanilla. Every Christmas all of Howard's neighbors, bowling buddies, and people from the Post Office would come to Howard's house every Christmas morning for Tom & Jerry's. He had special cups he filled a little over half with that special sweet stuff, the grown up got a little cup of some put in, must have been a friend of Tom & Jerry's, and then the cup was filled with hot water. They are sooooooooooo good! All of the elves get them but only the elves over 210 get the 'special friend.'What's your favorite holiday beverage? Have you ever had a Tom & Jerry?
