That's so nice to read. And I relate. I call my children kids, the youngest isI did too. It's always a blast when we get the cousins together. We set up a Secret Santa for them this year instead of each family getting the other's gift cards. This was a really nice change of pace and the kids (kids= the youngest is 19 and the oldest is 26- so not *really* kids) put so much thought and effort into it. Really loved seeing that!
Sounds great, and I think it's good to have room for tears too. Makes the joy and laughter even more special! Our christmas was a bit of everything, there were tears (family loss this year), joy and laughter and lots of food. We got thru the day and am glad to be moving forward into a new year. We had gift opening in the morning and then a really good turkey dinner, followed by a quiet night of snacks and a movie.
Glad for you your day was succesfull. Sorry you went ill, but I think your daughter is right. Happy you are on the mend again! My day was a success. Family gathered and had lots of laughs.
After clean-up was done and I went to bed I became quite ill. (Everyone else was fine so I didn't poison anyone.)
I had an awful headache which I can't seem to shake even today. Boxing day was spent in the recliner watching Christmas movies on Netflix as that was all I could handle. I couldn't read as my eyes would not focus properly. Food was an afterthought and then dismissed.
I am better today, so far have managed a cup of coffee and my head is somewhat more clear. I think it may have been the release of all the built-up stress of preparation before Christmas. I do seem to over-do things in my effort to have a special day. I think maybe my daughter has the right idea in many ways... cater the dinner and be done. lol (My hubby is aghast at the idea.)
That sounds just great!!This year we all stayed with our youngest brother and his family and it was wonderful and relaxed.
