Dark Winds - Season 1 and 2 are still playing on Netflix. Saw the announcement that Season 3 will be starting on Netflix on Monday - Oct 27th.
Dark Winds is based on books by Tony Hilleman about the Navajo police. Most of the actors are Navajo and it is filmed in the Navajo/Indian reservation in NW New Mexico/NE Arizona. Hint: turn on the closed captioning as some dialog is in Navajo language. Since I live in New Mexico, I am familiar with that part of the state... It is fun to see if I can guess where the the scenes were filmed and what season it was.

I have been binge-watching (again) season 1 & 2 to remember who, where and what happened in them. I will be binge-watching Season 3 this week.

I adore everything that Zahn McClarnon is in. I love the journey his character takes through the series.
We watched Season 3 when it was on TV and it really gets into "it." (Don't want to give any spoilers so I will leave it at that :D)

Yes, @faerywings .... I did watch half the 3rd Season of Dark Winds last evening.. WOW!!! Will finish watching the rest of it tonight.
I agree... Zahn McClarnon is a great actor...

BTW, Season 4 is screening on AMC challenge. I understand that it has even more surprises.

@BrightEyes @faerywings OMG, we binge watched Dark Winds this summer. LOVED, it OMG, the acting was phenomenal, I love getting the Navajo history and rituals, and I've always been a huge fan of Zahn McClarnon and A. Martinez since he was one of the little cowboys with John Wayne. Can't wait for season 4. We did a 99 cent trial of AMC+ in order to get Season 3. LOL

We do that 99 cent thing all the time too!

Just finished Season 3. Well worth watching! I had to look up all the locations since hubby and I spent a couple of weeks in that area of NM in April and, of course, I was curious. I actually recognized some of the places. (e.g. Camelrock, Tesuque Pueblo) Exciting!
PS -- I loved the Hillerman books, too. :)
See you in 2026, Kay! :claphands:

Have tell about a trip that we took when traveling in Arizona several years ago. DH and I stopped for gas and lunch in Tuba City several years ago. There was a Pow Wow gathering going on so there was a line waiting to get a table in the cafe. I was behind this tall man who turned and made a comment that the food there was worth the wait. We talked together for about 30 minutes and I noticed a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face during that time. Couldn't resist after about 5 minutes, I had to smile and wink at him... which caused us both to crack-up laughing. The 3 of us enjoyed talking about the area and if he would be at the big PowWow in Albuquerque that was coming up soon. As the gentleman was called to a table, I said "enjoyed talking with you, Tony"... yep... it was Tony Hillderman!!! dance3 He was there for the Pow Wow... and was doing more research for an upcoming book he was writing. Hubby started laughing and said no wonder you two had so much to talk about (I mentioned to Tony early in the conversation that we were raised in Tucumcari, New Mexico).

BTW, Tony never said who he was and I never called him by name, either. I had seen his photo on his books so I recognized him immediately.
