I love the "O"
hellloooooooo my dear Ozies

I´m back from holidays and find slowly my place at the digiland. It´s really hard if you are not here for more than 1 week. So much news and things and so on. I feel like I wasn´t here for years:-D

We had a wonderful time in algeria , visited the family , swam in the ocean and a lot more things. We rented a car and so we visited my sister in law for the first time ( I knew her but was never in her home). It was 500 km far away .The traffic in algeria is so heavy it seems there are no rules. I have my driving licence since 30 years and this was the first time I saw a car accident in front of me. My heart stood still for a minute because he has missed us by a hairbreadth. Thanks good nobdoy was really hurt.

You will see some of the photos in my next layouts:mrgreen: and I will show you some impressions from Algeria soon.

Good morning and Happy Friday!
Astrid, you and Trudy are cracking me up. I am usually the one who is completely Date Challenged. I have been on pretty good roll, too. Yesterday Trudy had put the date as Friday and today you have it as Thursday! Too funny! Thank you for starting off our Thread.:)

Welcome back to digiland and I am so happy to hear that you had a nice vacation and visit with family. That is terrifying about the car accident and I am so glad that you were safe.
On our way home from my parents house, I was merging onto the highway and there was an 18 wheeler who was not letting me in at all. I tried to speed up but still not fast enough to get ahead of it and I ended up shouting some curse words and had to stay on the shoulder until I could get behind him. And there was no one in the left lane, it would have been so easy for him to get over. I felt a bit woozy after that too, so I can see why your heart stopped!

Have I commented that if I had a quarter for every minutes/hour/whatever that I have to wait in drs offices, I would be rich? It was an interesting drive to the office. Google Maps had me going in circles. I was less than a mile away and it said the Destination on the Right. Well, not it wasn't! It was pouring torrential rain, I am trying to peer out the windows to look for this mirage of a building, had to double back twice, stopped at a pharmacy to ask for directions, and finally found my way there. At one point, we had to pull over into a Church. Caitlyn says Something about being lost and Jesus being your GPS. I thought she was being funny because the actual GPS was being so ridiculous, but it was the sign on the Church she was reading. Very appropriate :D
Then on the way home, the silly GPS was me going in circles again, and on one way streets. Stupid! But I figured it out, and we got home around 6.30 and Gary made me an amazing grilled cheese sandwich and a glass of wine. Love that man!!

The allergist was very nice and she didn't have to get any allergy testing which was sooo nice! Zyrtec twice a day until they go away, and if they don't in 3 months we have to go back. He was concerned because of the bruising around them, but she bruises very easily so hopefully that is all it is from.

Today I have to head up to the really nice ShopRite on the other side of the mountain. It is gorgeous and enormous and I would love to shop there (maybe?) if it were closer. It is in NY State so the prices are higher than here. But I won a $25 gift card for doing the Yoga/Wellness Challenge and there is also the dietitian that I want Cait to speak too and we will make an appt for a full work up. All free. How awesome is that?

That is about all from sunny and hopefully less humid NJ!

I was reading over my post from yesterday and I thought that I would give you an example of how stupid CDC Lyme test requirements are.
I had 5 positive bands on my Western Blot test, including Band 39, which is *specific* for the Lyme bacteria. But they were considered "weak positive" by CDC standards so in the CDC's eyes-- I don't have Lyme. A year or so ago, Gary had a bulls eye rash on his hand, but it was "too small" by CDC standards. *eye roll*
This is why we see a Lyme Literate Dr who follows different protocols, why we have to pay out of pockets (nothing covered by insurance, why we cannot use Lyme drs names online. The CDC may be good for some things but for Lyme it is s***.

Trudy- oh my, I hope that the fires and smoke ends and SOON! The pics from CA are horrible and I heard that 3 firefighters died a few days ago. As the DD of a firefighter, that breaks my heart. I wish I could have sent you the rain I was driving in yesterday- there was plenty on the roads and the storms drains were spurting back up, and here you are dry as a bone :(

Hi Sharron! If you want to start a Thread, feel free!! I just write Daily Ooos and the date for the subject line (correct date is optional LOL) and then go ahead and blabber about whatever you want for the rest of the post.
7 kids is a lot!, but glad that you had a nice visit and a peaceful day yesterday.

Jean- I am so sorry to hear about the struggles for your sister. Good thoughts coming to you both. I have heard a lot of Lyme patients getting shingles- I guess anything that messes with the immune system, like chemo, can trigger it.
And sending some soup or ice cream to you, hope that the extractions get better (easier? less painful? YKWIM!)

Time to get my butt going, I feel so lazy- again!

Good morning - Today is beautiful - blue skies and we only had a little rain. It was so strange there was horrible flooding just two towns over from me but for me it was a nice steady rain. The rain hit on the Watchung Mts and flowed down to the high way which has a barrier in the middle and so the water had no where to go and the highway became the river. It was very impressive but so glad it was not in my city for a change. Got in a good walk but boy the humidity is terrible. Came home and sat in the AC and watched the CBC TV series from years ago but I think it is so campy that it makes me smile. I am sure they did not mean the show to be so - It is called MVP and it is hockey themed. Players and owners stories. But it was fun to watch. I have a wedding this weekend in NYC so I have new shoes that I am wearing and trying to break in so that I won't be in too much pain. But I am getting better as they are heels and I never where heels. Being in the City on a Sat night should be interesting getting from church to the reception. The reception is being held at the New York Athletic Club so that should be an experience. Waiting for my sister to call. She was to call yesterday but forgot. LOL and she is younger than me.

Chris I would see if you could put WAZE on your phone for directions. It is really good and up to date and it lets you know if the roads are slow and police. I hope that the CDC can get its act together for Lyme's. From what I read there are still a lot of mixed diagnoses and protocols for treatment. So glad you had a good doctor. Good luck to Cait with her new medication. And 18-wheelers always think they rule as they are bigger than cars.

Astrid looking forward to seeing pages on your trip. Accidents and near misses are heart stopping! Glad you are ok.

Trudy and Sharron the fires are so bad this year. I really don't remember this from previous years. Read that July was the hottest month ever since recording were made.

Jean I had shingles on my face and since then I tell everyone to get the vaccine. It is horrible but I caught it early and my doctor gave me anti virals so it was not as bad as it could have been. It was close to an eye nerve so I was very lucky. I was sick! Hope she feels better soon.

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... Ok enough with the smoke already!!! I can't get outside at all with all this smoke, my eyes are watering in the house and I need to get out to water my flowers! Then had trouble with my new kobo reader, it would not turn on  I don't need this happening right now!! Well I tried a different cable to charge it and hopefully that will do the trick. The other cable did not show the indicator that it was charging, but when I changed it to another one the indicator came on whew!! I think the smoke and dry weather is getting to me, I am becoming grumpy and I don't want to be that way when my grands arrive on Saturday. :nono:

Astrid - LOL you and I need to take a better look at the calendar!! :becky: It is hard to get back into the swing of things after holidays, so what is my excuse?? :noidea: That is awful about the accident that happened right in front of you!!! How terrifying!! Glad that you are all safe and that you had a wonderful time on your vacation!!

Chris - Yikes 18 wheelers are not something you mess with!! My brother drove an 18 wheeler for many, many years and he was alway a very courteous driver, but there are some bad ones out there and it sounds like this was one of them, he could very well have just moved over for you!! That must have been a heart stopping experience! My one sister thinks that merging means she can just drive out onto the highway and everyone should move for her OMG she almost killed us once. No matter how many times I tell her she is wrong and that you have to merge into the traffic when it is safe to do so, she insists that she is in the right ... I could just strangle her!!!! Yes it is bone dry here and this could very well be the norm for the next few years!! How scary is that :fear: Hope Cait will feel better very, very soon! She must be so uncomfortable!

Nancy - How lucky for you that you did not get the flooding!! Hope the shoes are breaking in nicely and that you will not be uncomfortable wearing them all night at the wedding! Yes this has been the hottest driest summer ever recorded for us and it sounds like next summer will be the same, YIKES!!

Ok my sister is bugging me to help her figure out why her email is not working on her phone, so I will talk to you all later and hope you have a great Friday!!

Fasting blood work done....coffee goin' down!

Just found out that my DDIL has once again been selected as one of the Top Doctors in Seattle by Seattle Metropolitan Magazine. This happens almost every year in two different magazines. But she is humble and doesn't even mention it. I have to find out from others who post on Facebook. And to keep it in perspective, she occasionally brings her 5-year-old boy with her to work when she is on call on a Saturday morning. She was showing him all the important stuff that happens in her clinic...very cool equipment, etc., but what HE thinks is cool is that she knows all the passages and "secret" doors and shortcuts in the building, and can find her way around the whole building without ever getting lost! ROTF-LOL-WMP!!!!!!!!!! Kids do keep us humble.

Welcome back from Algeria, Astrid. Glad you had a wonderful time and were not injured in a car accident. As bad as traffic gets in parts of the US, it seems tame compared to many other parts of the world where, as you say, there don't seem to be rules, or enforcement of them, at least.

Nancy, hope the wedding is awesome. Don't know how it could be, wearing heels and all, but it IS in a gorgeous venue. Glad you were spared the flooding.

Trudy, if it's the same sister having trouble with her email/phone that won't merge properly, tell her that it is her merging system that is goofing up her email! Seriously, you need to find a Youtube video about merging for her. I knew of a gal once, who insisted that you are NOT supposed to turn your head and look for cars in your blind spot before changing lanes! =:O

Chris, I hope you have a blast with your coupon, and can find something wonderful that you don't really NEED, but would love to have. Hope Cait is on the mend soon.

Fires. So heart-breaking. Washington is grieving the death of three fire-fighters. There is a big fire right near where we were at my nieces wedding a few weeks ago...such a gorgeous area, and SO dependent upon tourists. Same with Chelan (which is where Dave and I met). They've been without power, internet, phones, and of course, tourists are leaving by the droves. My DDIL's aunt and uncle live on the lake, and almost had to evacuate. Happy to report THEY are okay, but thousands of others are not.

The Champions Golf tournament (Boeing Classic) is near us this week...annual event. DH and his two buddies are going there today to watch the Geezer Golfers compete. Glad that the temperatures are expected to be reasonably cool today.

My copy of Somerset Digital Studio came yesterday, so I felt the surge of the thrill again. Besides my two LOs (ONE on the cover), they also published a letter to the editor I had written. I just love this publication, and will spend weeks petting it and luxuriating in it. Talk about de-stressing! This is like taking a vacation.

Time to go make some banana bread to take to Bible study tonight. Hope you all have a wonderful week end.

Scrap on!

My excuse is super easy. When we came back on wednesday the whole trip I had an extrem watering eye. It was read and hurted more and more. Sometimes I couldn´t open it. So I took out my contact lenses. So I can´t read the small numbers on my calender:blabla:
