It looks like I'm the first one up and at 'em today! Don't know why that phrase popped into my head...something that my mom used to say to me. Need to "get up and at 'em". Maybe because I was thinking about her. This is my oldest sister's birthday...she was born prematurely 56 years ago and died that same day. Mom never held her. And I believe that they are celebrating together in heaven today!

Ok...enough already! Anyone have big plans for the weekend? I'm going to get some coffee :tea: and I'll be back with personals!

So Maureen, I hope that you didn't get any of that bad Hawaiian weather. I read that Oahu had a tornado and hail this week. How crazy is that?

How did the shopping trip go Donna? Good job by your hubby getting enough weight off to need some new clothes! And hope that your mom has a very happy birthday. (And how can you go wrong with an apple pie?)

I am planning to do a bit of shopping here today. Need some new shoes. (And I really mean NEED. I hate to buy new shoes so I wait until there is a real NEED!)

My dad invited Shaun to have lunch with him today...just the two of them. They are having Shaun's favorite...shrimp! Dad bought shrimp and french fries and pop and they are both excited! I have a pretty cool Dad...he has 7 grandkids and he just loves them all to death. He does pretty good for someone who is 82! He and my mom set the bar pretty high for parenting!

And what about that stinky time change we have this weekend? Ugh... I like have the extra hour of daylight in the evenings but I don't know why we need it now! :mad2:Couldn't they wait until April?:violin:

Ok...off to the gallery for me!

Good morning Linda!
I got to sleep in until 8 am!!!!! wheeeeeeeeeee!! I woke up around 7, thought that I should get up and at em (my mom said that too LOL), and then thought, why the heck do I need to do that? No major plans today, go back to sleep!!
I think I really needed it too. I think I got about 10-11 hours of sleep. I am 9-10 hour of sleep girl, and I just about never get it. But I feel pretty good ATM! yahoo!

You dad is great- I love it when my parents and IL's do stuff like that with my guys. Thinking of your sister today too. I can't imagine how hard that must have been for your mom. :(

Good luck show shopping. I HATE shopping for shoes/clothes for me, what a switch from when I was younger LOL

xoxo

sitting here with a cup of tea....then i need to head off to target with my 11yr old so she can pick out a birthday present for her friend tomorrow and i need to get a memory card and dog food....

morning Chris wish I could say that I've had lots of sleep, but far from it LOL Kids in our bed and very mornings, but we wear them out during the day, so its early bedtimes for kids and grandparents! hope you all have a great weekend!!

Linda, TG you mentioned the time change! i was TOTALLY unaware that this was the weekend for it! well, maybe it will make me feel like i got up later tomorrow morning. up at 5 today for no earthly reason. Chris, if ONLY i could sleep for 9-10 hours, even ONCE!!:drama:

the Radon Guys are coming today to install a system in the basement. i did all the leg work, gave the info to my husband to read weeks and weeks ago and to think about, i hired the people, and now, two hours before they come, he's having second thoughts and asking me questions. i could kill men. honestly.

put all the old bedroom furniture back in my new bedroom this a.m. SOOO depressing. now i have to start looking for other furniture that will fit up the stairs. doing laundry. putting up with a cranky husband.

weekend! hope you have some fun for me, please, as i deal with Radon Guys and Mr. Mopey all day....

Kristy- have fun!

Trudy-- good to hear that you are surviving ok! I'd send you sleep if I could.

Phyllis- I can't even imagine how PO'd you must be about the furniture. And men. :(
I'd send you sleep too if I could.

Happy birthday to your mom Donna!

Congrats on the new Camera, Kristy! My Canon DSLR has to be about 5 years old and I am finally learning all of the buttons, or else I would be really jealous and want a new one too LOL

Welcome back to the East Coast Maureen.

I can't believe the hoops that your DD has to jump through to get treatment. That is just nuts. I am relieved for your sake that she is dealing with your ex-dh for the most part.

Hang in there ladies and have a fab day!! xoxo!

Well....it's been a while.....

did you guys think I died?? NOT A CHANCE...I AM TOO ONERY!!

We have been crazy here though....between kids, my Mom has been really sick the last couple of weeks...but she is on the mend now...much much better yesterday and today...she is even keeping the "crumb snatchers" for me today :becky: So a day off from kids means a lot of cleaning for me....that depresses me!!! This is one of the things that gets to me so much....the "BEEN THERE DONE THAT" attitude. ~sigh~ PLUS....my hormones have been really on the rage the last few days....MENopause....note the highlighted part there....yeah.....poor guy can't even breathe the right way lately. WTH is wrong with him???? :pound: He is in his man cave today...trying to keep his distance.....(that's our den)

Just to give you an idea of how bad I have been....he gets up this morning and has coffee, then, like he always does, he asks what's for breakfast....I fussed at him saying that he should go get breakfast...he said I could if I wanted to....so I stomped out of the house mumbling something about being nothing but a servant and fumed all the way there and all the way back.....UUUUGGGHHHH...I took a pill when I got home......you know those little ones that make you feel better......XANAX!!! maybe in another hour I will tell him it's okay to come out, I won't bite him. HEHE!!!

Okay....I am off to get some work done....................I am hoping to have most things I want to get done by noon...then I will have the afternoon to do "whatever"

Oh Nana Linda!! Sounds like a rough patch! But I'm glad that your mom is feeling better! Super hugs all around...and I know that DH will be ok in his man cave for awhile!

Phylis...hugs on putting the old furniture back! And don't you just want to say "Now's a fine time to think about what I asked you to do weeks ago?" Ugh...

Trudy, so glad that you popped in. Quite a change for you waking up with little kids in bed huh?

Kristy, enjoy Target...one of my favorite places in the world!

I got to sleep in until 8 am!!!!!

Gee ... I'm sorry for you. I only drag myself out of bed that early two times a year - on Lucia and on Vasaloppet - to watch it on TV.

I usually force myself to get out of bed round 9.30-10 ... depending on when DH have my coffee ready :)

Oh my word! All this sleeping in! If I get 5 hours a night, I am set. And if they are in a row, it is like my birthday and Christmas all rolled into one!

:)

morning all - We went out dancing Fri evening, stayed over Cbus and went to dance Sat am, then to the county clerk office and got titles for all 3 vehicles in our names and then I hung on the couch- dang cold- many of the adults at work have been sick- the kids have cancelled, so I am blaming it on the adults. Most likely a simple cold, but if I get coughing or need to blow my nose to often, I will have to call off- and if I miss two days, I have to go to the dr and have a note to return after that. So, I couldn't sleep in as my stuffy nose woke me up. We are off to church, I may grab my work laptop and try to connect at home today. My son from DC is dropping by on his way through the state. We can't wait to see what he thinks of our basement so far. Today it is supposed to be warm-60's and sunny- the grill will be making ribs for dinner- hope I can taste them!

Laurie, good idea! i think i'll fire up the grill for dinner today! it's supposed to be nice here, too.
Nana, great to see you agan. hope your Mom continues to improve!
Stef, hope you get some good ZZZZZZZs some night soon. it sometimes worries me that i seem to actually be OK-ish with 6 hours.

so, now my out-of-the-clear-blue-sky Radon problem has been mitigated. gotta test again in a week or so to see whether the system is actually working. now on to testing my well. hopefully no bad news there. i think our septic system wouldn't pass muster were we to try to sell the house, and that's a BIG problem i don't even want to think about.... i'm trying to address all these things before my husband retires and the $$$ gets to be a lot less. i'm not really thrilled that I am the person who is thinking about this stuff. i thought that was one of the things GUYS were for! you know: women cook, clean, iron shirts, take care of the kids, and the GUYS care about cars, cutting the grass, Radon and wells and septic systems. :mmph:

have a relaxing Sunday!

Hey hey, all of my fab O-Fam peeps!
Happy Sunday and DST for us Americans. I am so excited ot have light at the end of the day- it makes me feel like I have so much more time. It looks like it is going to be beautiful today-- 65* We have freinds coming up early afternoon, so I won't be doing any yard work, but its all good. I haven't seen our friends since Christmas so it will be awesome to catch up.

My family is seriously wacky (in case you never realized that before). We watched Disney movies last night. Sleeping Beauty and Mulan. Let me tell you-- if you haven't experienced watching Sleeping Beauty with teenagers, it is a completely different experience than when you have toddlers. We were hysterically laughing. My kids are really funny and bizarre. Gotta love them!

What great plans do all of you have for the rest of the weekend?

Nana, hugs to you and to your mom and to what is left of your sanity ;)
Hang in there!

Eva-- I am soooo jealous of your sleep LOL

Laurie-- feel better and enjoy the time with your DS

Phyllis-- I hear ya on the "having to think of it all" gig. It sucks. Fingers crossed on the septic. We had horrible issues with our spetic the last couple of years and we finally were able to get it fixed last spring. Being on abx kills the system, and then we had a cracked pipe leading to the field. I'll tell ya, when you are looking at a new system at $20,000, all of a sudden $3000 for a cracked pipe doesn't sound do bad.

have great days everyone!

::grouphug

Oh Eva! That sound so good!! I would love to sleep that long LOL

One of the best things about homeschooling - you can follow your family's clock and not the society's :) If John was going to a regular school, I guess I would have to get up at 6.30 or something :)

Chris, I'm glad that you like the DST. When I'm wanting to crab about it this week as I get up in the dark, I will think of you and that it makes you cheery and that at least will make me happy!

We had family photos taken last May and with everything that went on last summer, I never did get them ordered. So yesterday, I finally went online and ordered. The woman who does them is fantastic! Which is why it is so difficult for me to make choices! Ugh... And so, we have lots of photos coming our way! The good news is that she actually takes photos of me with the kids...and as the camera carrying member of our family, that doesn't happen too often.

Hello all

I am sooo glad to be home and in my own almost routine again. Vacations are nice but after the earlier weeks we had with my daughter, I realized what I really needed was calm and routine. Something that felt like normal again. Well home does it for me.

Doing some post trip laundry felt kind of good; I didn't have much to do since we had a washer dryer in Honolulu. Weather? rain, rain, rain. Dick recalls it differently but then he likes Hawaii, he doesn't mind humid, and I'm the opposite. I had years in SE Asia so I've had my time in tropical paradise and it was enough. I think we have almost agreed that HI is just too far for a place for him to bike. The FL gulf will suffice for him. Crossing my fingers and toes on that one. As I remind myself, this is a hell of a first world problem. :violin:

Did I mention my son did not/is not going to Afghanistan again??? Was Mama relieved? oh baby, was I. Not with the current incidents. He's had enough yrs there imho...

Going back to the sleeping subject - we arrived here on the East Coast about 9pmish and were in bed by 10 (8pm for our body clocks). I slept til 6ish and stayed in bed til NOON! Yes, noon!!! It was the one thing I wanted from our vacation and finally got. I dozed in and out for those last 6 hrs, and always say ...Sleep is the best medicine for me. Back with ya tomorrow. ::grouphug

So we did have ribs, it is still warm, removing the dead stuff around my daffodils has made my nose stuffy. My sons planned and put together the orders for the speakers, wires, reciever for the basement and outside by the hot tub- oh yeah- no more moving a speaker in and out. Plus they will come back and set it up for us. They have truly grown into fine young men- well in their momma's opinion. I gave the youngest his bday and graduation gift- two pieces of luggage- no more needing to use his backpack and grocery bags! He is headed out on a spring break trip- Fargo North Dakota- and then stopping at frat houses all the way back.
