Daily ooo's weekend Edition Nov 13th-14th

Hello ladies! I know that I've been missing in action...sorry! It's been crazy here...seems to be a pattern. Sounds like plenty going on around here. I hate it when I can't keep track of the comings and goings of my O-fam!

Here's what's going on here. Mom has her last chemo appointment on Tuesday...and one more week of radiation. She's pretty tired and having trouble swallowing (an expected side effect of the radiation) but we are closing in on the end of the treatments anyway.

Two weeks ago, found out that my cousin who is 2 weeks older than me has breast cancer. She lives about 20 miles from here so we have pretty much grown up together. Thought that a lumpectomy would do the trick...but got in there and found more than they expected...some in the lymph nodes so went ahead and did a masectomy. She starts radiation and chemo next week.

Went to parent teacher conferences and Syd's was first. The only concern there is that the teacher thinks that she is very gifted in math and there is no program for that until 3rd grade. So I need to try to keep her motivated in math until she gets there. Then went to Shaun's and they say that his reading of words has improved but his comprehension has fallen behind. They don't know if it's language related or not so they want to do some assessments and meet with us to discuss.

Really need a day off but I'm saving all of my time for Mom. May need to break down and take the day before Thanksgiving in order to get the dinner cooked.

Tired...but hoping things improve soon! Anyway, miss all of you and planning to be around more!

Way to go on finding that spatula Meg!!! Those treats sounded great! I've got a new recipe for Dutch letter bars...think I may make those tonight.

GOOD EVENING ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

WHEW!!!!!!!!!!! ONE TIRED NANA HERE!!!!!!!!!!

After waking up at 4 am this morning....that is bad enough, but this party really whipped my butt.....it was small, mostly just family, but the kids all went out to play.....CHEAP PARTY ENTERTAINMENT....PILES OF LEAVES IN THE BACKYARD!! HAHAHAHA!! Those kiddos had an absolute blast!!! BUT....when they came in....so did most of the leaves!!! AAACCKKKK!! so when they all left it took me over an hour to vacuum my house and mop the kitchen floors again!!! OH WELL...so worth the happiness on one little 4 year old's face!!!! Well, for all of the actually

I am going to settle for a bit, and then I am going to come back and do some personals!! Cause I love ya all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all - busy day - like everyone- Linda- have you thought about buying a precooked dinner at your local grocery- that you can heat and eat- I have done that before- not the same- but not the work on your end either - or go out to eat and cook a turkey breast for picking at for the rest of the weekend??

Laurie, we're doing something a bit like that! We are buying the turkey pre-cooked from the local grocery as well as the mashed potatoes! My turkey is no better than the store's for sure...and it will give me oven space and I won't have to defrost anything. My mashed potatoes might be better (I LOVE butter) but I don't think anyone will notice. That way they get all of the traditional favorites that I make!
