Oscraps

Daily Ooo's Weekend edition March 23 & 24th

LaurieW

lOve the O!
Morning O fam- it is the weekend. I stayed up later last night, my son and his gf were driving home, but didn't make it till they arrived. I am in the basement trying to stay quiet as they were not supposed to arrive till 2am. They have to leave at 10 am and we won't see them again for a while, so soon I will go back upstairs and start making noise. We have dance today, and are taking the final papers for our taxes to be done. Yikes what a day. Topping that off, I have scrapping fever and I have work in the basement to do. Plus Chris bad weather is rubbing off and we may get several inches of snow Sun/Mon. The operative word is may!

What are you doing this weekend?

Hi Laurie! That must have been so hard waiting for them to get home. I guess I;ll be doing the same soon.
Hope that your day is really fun and goes smoothly, especially with you taxes. And yippeeeee to scrapping fever. I woke up wanting to scrap with Paula Kesslering's stuff in the worst way. (sorry that I prob killed the spelling of her name). How funny is that?
I hope that the storm stays far away from both of us! I have heard two reports, depending on how the storm tracks-- either 6-12" or 3-5". Either way, its too much. And the school is out of snow days. Stay away snow!!!!!!

Today I am taking Scott and his GF Leah to an Open House at a college that Scott will (hopefully) go to. He is looking at 2 year Community Colleges and there are 3 in driving distance. The out of county tuitions are way more than the in-county one, so I hope he likes this one. He has plenty of time since he won't be going until Fall '14 but he was interested in going so I jumped all over it.
Other than that, I have a quiet weekend of no activities except doing the Mom's Tax Deal and having several, not sure of how many, teens over for dinner. I have 5 teens ATM here, but I will be losing Scott and Leah after the college deal. But I think I am gaining 1-2 more of Cait's friends later on today.
One of Cait's friends whom I have not met yet asked Cait if she could call me mom. Cait was like-- Of coooouuuuurrrse!!!! :D
I am really lucky-- there have only been a few of my kids' friends that I did not like and usually, with a bit of time, they figure that out on their own. I hope that trends sticks.

I am going to post this up now and I;ll be back for personals in a few.

(Guess where I am off too?

if you guess :tea: you'd be right!!)

Morning all... up waaaayyy to early this morning 4am yikes!! I really need to go back to bed and get some more sleep  My lower back and legs are killing me (dam sciatica)!! So I am waiting for the ibuprofen to kick in so I can get back in the sack!

Laurie - I am like you and just trying to stay quiet so I don't wake my MG up. Not much going on for us this weekend, some shopping for food and some wine making supplies. Hopefully a nice hike somewhere and then some yard work. So really hope that the weather is going to cooperate and it will be a sunny day here. Rest of Canada is still in a wintery state, but here on the west coast it has been pretty nice. Sorry your weather is taking a turn for the worst and hope you do not get too much snow! Good luck with your taxes, hope you get a nice return and do not have to pay the tax man!!

May as well open up my photoshop and try to get some scrapping done! Hopefully this pain in my back will go away soon!

Morning Chris... Pour a cup for me too ok? Hope Scott takes a liking to the College in county, would be nice for both of you!! Hope the snow is a no show for you today, you must be wondering where the heck spring has gotten too!!

Hi trudy!!! Oh do NOT get me started on where the heck spring is??? My FB feed has been filled with Wanted Posters for Punxatawny Phil who really messed this one up as he predicted an early spring hahahahha!!!
The worst part of this is that you all know how I need my oxygen/yard work. I really need to see signs of new life at this time of year. And my yard is nothing buy snow and some mud peeking through. :(

I will pour you a big mug of :tea: and sending you a heat pack for that sciatica too. That is horrible pain :(

From Friday:

Eva- have fun planning your trip- it sounds very exciting!!! Its good to have something to look forward too. I hope that you find really good prices for everything you need.
BTW- how are your dad and sis doing?

Laurie - WTG on the workout, very proud of you for not pushing yourself!

Nancy- gaaaaaah!! I wish it were 70* here again. Those poor little girls and their summer Easter dressed for next week.... they are going to freeze! And egg hunts? It will be easy to find the eggs- they can just look for where they were pushed down into he snow. /snark
Your weekend sound divine!!!!! enjoy!
Too funny about the cat on your bed- I am the same way with my dog. She likes to sleep all stretched out too- not curled up like my other dog did. ;)

Nana- omg- what little brats!!!!! I hope this gets resolved for you asap!

Linda S- You had spring break already? Wow! Ours is Easter Week and a bunch of schools in my area are later on April. I guess it is b/c we have school until the end f June maybe? Awesome news that the kids had fun, def. makes for a happy mama!

Trudy- didn't you just do inventory twice? ick that you have to do it again.
My dark roots are now so long and my ends are still so light, I am now joking that its meant to be that ombre look. LOL Have a great time when you get your hair done.

Phyllis- can I come and visit you for eater? All of that food sounds delish!!!!

Kristi!!! Welcome back!! Link us up when you get that LO posted!

Angela-- ditto to everything that Nana said! This is a no-stress thread and even if you just pop in to say hi, or even just read up on what we crazy-O's are doing, it is all good! I hope that your day went better than the one before. Hang in there sweetie!

Sally- I saw your pics of Up all Night, that is a really awesome thing to do except for me, I might be able to make it to 9 pm hahahaha!!

As for neighbors-- the landlord is renovating the house where 2 families of drug-dealers recently lived.... really hoping that we don't get more of them back in when the house is done.....

waaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hurt: that snow is coming our way, too!!!! my husband reported that this morning. i went to bed thinking it would only be flurries. now i have to go look at some radar to see what the heck is going on. honestly. i am TIRED OF SNOW!!!!

Trudy, sorry about the 4 a.m. wake-up. AND the pain! hopefully by now the Ibuprophen has kicked in and you're back in the sack. i actually made it from 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., then back to sleep until 7!! you know, i think i would love the west coast weather. you guys rarely get snow, right? i think i could handle the rain.

Chris, i think it's so lovely that one of your kids' friends wants to call you Mom. that has to be the clearest indication that you're doing a whole lot VERY right! hope Scott ends up liking the same CC you do! that makes it so much easier. and i'd love to have you for Easter! do you like horseradish? :pound:

Laurie, do we ever get over staying up until our kids get to where they're going? i know i never have.

today. hmmm. i know i have to get to two banks to transfer some funds. mu daughter is starting a Paralegal Certificate program right after Easter at one of our local uni's. hopefully THIS will get her into a better job situation. a few days ago, some of the kids who attend the school where she works AND their parents were arrested in a big drug sweep in the area. charming.

re: neighbors: let's all move to Arizona and start our own community!

OK. off i go to get the day started. have a lovely one, O-zies! :becky:

Good morning! wow there is strange weather out there and heading for NJ on Monday! Blah!!! I saw the US soccer team played in a snow storm in Denver. The sun is shining and that always make me happy! Was watching the pregame show before my NJ Devils game and LOL there I was - it was just a few seconds of me along with all lots of other fans entering the Rock for a game. I never even knew they were filming. Too funny. Guess it is true you always have to assume there is a camera everywhere.

Chris I love that all the counties in NJ have great 2 year colleges to help get kids started on their college experience. I love our Union County College - ours also have great adult classes and on line classes.

Trudy glad that Boston is winning! Should be a great finish in that division between Bruins and Canadiens. Enjoy you coffee and hope you get some more sleep!

Phylis your Easter food shopping sounds great to me.

Nana I am so sorry you have such neighbors. My husband and I have been so lucky to live in a neighborhood that has had very little turnover and we have awesome neighbors always willing to help. Good luck with how ever you decide to proceed.

Have a great day!

Chris, I hope for some nice weather too before June, overhere it's cold again too, not fun, but we do have a sun shining :)
Good luck with the open house at the colleges, I hope Scott finds a good one!

Eva, hope the tickets were less expensive then expected! Smart to plan so early and great you found a hotel so closeby!

Ow Nana how terrible to have such neighbors, I saw your layout and it's almost unbelievable that there are such people. I hope they or you can move soon!
I hope you'll be able to get enough money to pay for the daycare, that would be great for the kids to go there!

What a great amount of layouts scrapped Laurie, I checked my gallery and see I did about 40 already this month :o

well today we slept in, in turn, because Wes was picked up early to go to special daycare. He has much fun everytime he goes (every other saterday and wednesdays afternoons).
They do fun things, go to the market or go shopping, bake pancakes and play a lot.
Yesterday was a wonderful day, Luc and Nik were going to speech therapy again, because of troubles at school and they thought it was because they were having trouble with their speech. The therapist did test the past few weeks and they did just as well as they should do at this age :)
I'm very happy for that. She agreed with my thought Luc and Nik have more trouble with their lack of attention and being scared of making errors. They get very frustrated when they only think they are making errors. Sad but hopefully with the correct help solveable.

have a nice weekend girls!

Well, had a wonderful couple of hours with my son and his gf. As you know we live in the middle of nowhere surrounded by farm fields. My son & gf live in DC. She is originally from LA, so she just stood and looked out the window commenting on how far you could see (flat land here) it was too funny. So now to scrap, do laundry, pay bills and sadly no way we will not owe the tax man- the question is how much???

We are off to fabulous start this weekend....no rain...a huge plus....Cameran is here with me...the kids went to Mom's to see Traci.....Cameran had a nutty buddy for breakfast...Oh my, I am actually being a grandma this morning :hurt: He and I are off to mess around today...some alone time with Nana .... he is happy!!!!!!!!!!

Husband is still stressing about the neighbors today..but he has gone to the country...so I don't have to deal with that today :bounce: I think you might be hearing about us putting our house up for sale soon......might take a year to sell...but it won't sell until we try...........

That's about it from here....thanks for all the support girls....I wish you all were my neighbors

Phylis.....I vote for a caribbean island with male servants...a EUTOPIA!!!.............who is moving with me?

Nana, naaah. i can DRIVE to Arizona! and can i just say that a nana who lets a kiddo eat a nutty buddy for breakfast is tops in my book!!

Alegna, it sounds like your boys are doing well! fun at daycare and good reports on the testing! and the sun is shining, too. all good!

Nancy, you tv star, you! enjoy the sun. sounds like you're due for some of what's coming here on Sunday into Monday. DRAT!!!

Good afternoon ladies! Back from the baby shower. It was bittersweet. Callie's mom (my aunt) died of color cancer a few years ago. She and Callie were so close. And the person who hosted the shower was my aunt's best friend. So, the last gift was from her. She had taken my aunt's wedding dress and had it made into a christening gown for the baby. Well, everyone pretty much lost it at that point.

But I did get to talk with my 81 year old aunt and cousin who is a month older than I am. My cousin was telling me how tired she is and I was agreeing. Marcia asked my aunt if she had been tired when she was 55. Pat just laughed and said, wait until you hit 81.

I need to cruise the gallery for a bit and then I will return with personals.

Linda, glad that you are getting some time to play Nana today. And, who knows, you might just sell that house if you get it on the market. But if you decide to go the island route instead, I'm in...

Laurie, I'm thinking that we are in the same boat with the tax man this year. Wouldn't mind so much if I thought that the government had clue one what to do with the money that I send.

Angela, glad to hear that the boys had good results with the speech therapist.

Nancy, how much longer does the NHL season last? Glad you have some sunshine. We do too today...but we have 3-6 inches of snow over the weekend. Supposed to start this afternoon and evening. I am sick and tired of the snow!!!

:) Oh Phylis, let's move to Arizona and start our own neighborhood. I soooo want to be able to have coffee with you ladies each morning. That would make it seem sunny, even if it weren't! Hope the career change works for your daughter.

Trudy, that is way too early on a Saturday! Hope that the pain is long gone by now and that you got in a little extra sleep.

Chris, unbelievable that Scott is looking at colleges. And I always marvel at how cool your relationship is with your kids' friends. That is what I hope for. And, if I don't go senile I just might make it! My niece asked if she and her friends could come take prom pictures at our house in a couple of weeks...about 10 of them altogether. And the mom of one of the girls who stayed over night at my 13 year old nieces slumber party told me that her daughter said that I was really cool. As I told her, I have always wanted to be cool...and finally got there at 55!

Ok...now I'm off to the gallery.

 Phylis.....he thought I was pretty cool too....well all day he did....

We went to lunch, then to the video store, he spent his gift card in there and then to Walmart...he had a $25 card for there.....we spent nearly two hours playing with the toys and looking at EVERYTHING until he decided how to spend it. He got two guns, two card games, and an army grenade....not too bad...I was proud of him getting the most out of his money.

In return, he helped me clean out Jesse's room....we threw out a bunch of stuff and organized everything back to the way it's SUPPOSE to be!!!

hello all...been laid out all day with a thrown neck/shoulder....been in pain :( ugh...this hasn't happened in like 2 years.....thought this was done with...guess not boo

Kristy- that is now way to spend the day. Excited that we are not going to owe as much in taxes as I had planned for- so now trying to figure out how to celebrate!!

Oh Chris, you aren't the New Jersey winner of the big PowerBall jackpot are you? If you are, I want to do a CheeryO reunion.

Kristy, what a bad deal on your neck/back...hope today is better.

Laurie...woo hoo for the good news! A long weekend somewhere perhaps? :-) Where is your next trip...because I know that you have one planned. ;-)

Linda, wow!!! Sounds like C-man cleaned up! And how fantastic was the time that you spent with him. What a fantastic Nana you are. You could have easily used that time for yourself but you spent it building memories with him!:hail:

Oh next trip will be to Hilton Head Island in May- golfing for my husband and relaxing for me! Today off to church after breakfast and then laundry, creating and getting ready for the work week. Prepping my mind for the snow that is supposed to begin this afternoon!

Kristy, feel better. pain is the worst. how are you getting through the day?

LindaS, THIS cracked me up:
I have always wanted to be cool...and finally got there at 55!
you were cool to me from the moment i saw you and your kiddos and the energy with which you approach being a mom and PERSON!

Laurie, is there a reason to go to Hilton Head if no one is a golfer? it always sounds so beautiful to me, but neither of us golf or even LIKE golf. would we be able to find things to do? is it a place where just hanging out on the beach is good?

Nana, it always amazed me that kids are such great shoppers when it's THEIR money. they can be very thrifty and shrewd. your day is the sort of day i dream about having with The Grandmen. but i doubt it'll ever happen. i will use the Nutty Buddy Breakfast as the thing i aspire to, if i ever get The Grandmen alone!

today, probably ironing. and waiting for the blizzard to arrive tonight. i guess i won't have a car tomorrow, since Hubby will probably drive it to work instead of his little truck because the roads will be bad.

can someone give me one of your favorite, easy, go-to recipes for dinner? i am so sick of my cooking, i can't stand it.

a blessed and peaceful Sunday to y'all, O-zies.

Laurie, is there a reason to go to Hilton Head if no one is a golfer? it always sounds so beautiful to me, but neither of us golf or even LIKE golf. would we be able to find things to do? is it a place where just hanging out on the beach is good?

The first year I went there I enjoyed the beach in the early am to see what washed up- shells toys, sea debris- cool stuff to take photos of- Last year I saw that they put a break wall of huge rocks at the end of the island which meant other than sea gulls and jelly fish and an occasional starfish, not much washed up on the shore. There is shopping, it is about 2 hours from Charleston, SC and a little over an hour from Savannah, Georgia. So for me it will be the change of pace, the time with my sister as her husband comes for the golf! We will be on the bay side this year, so I will see how that is compared to the other side/end.

you are telling me :( I was home alone all day yesterday though...that was nice to be in a quiet house and sleep...but on the downside I missed my nieces birthday party....wasn't gonna make the hour and a half drive in pain and feeling nausea (threw up yesterday morning too) was just a bad day all around for me.....today still in pain....we are supposed to go out tonight me and dh.....blah...dunno what to do....

and YAY for not owing as much on taxes!

Hellllooooooo and happy Sunday to you all!!!

We all survives the College Open House yesterday! Woot! *I* think it is perfect for him, hopefully he does too.
It has a main campus which is in inner-city area, and 3 satellite campuses. This campus was only 20 minutes away and almost all courses are available there. A few he might have to go to the main campus for, but for the most part, it would be close and (relatively) cheap. Campus was nice and will be getting a really nice expansion next year and should be done when he is ready to go in Fall '14. Best thing was that even with the expnasion, its a small school, one floor, class size is limited to 25 students. That is really important for him b/c of his disabilities and cognitive issues with Lyme. There is a wide range of degrees and it is easy for him to transfer into a 4 year college when he is ready.
I was showing Cait the info and she is interested too. Financially it is the only one we can afford for them although if they have their heart set on a different school we would find a way.
There are 2 more community colleges that are within decent commute distance
< an hour no traffic. but they are more expensive since we would be out-of-county. But we'll take it one step a a time. Al I can think of his last year he said he wanted to be a bum and live in a box when asked about his future.

Today I have very little to do around here. Well, in all honesty I have a lot that *should* get done but nothing that is urgent, so I really want to force myself to take a slow day today.

Hope everyone is having a fab day!!

Be back as soon as I refill my fuel.

Oh Phyllis- feeling you snow pain... they downgraded us to 2-4 but like I have said a gazillion times, its still too much!
If I have to eat horseradish to get to the rest of the yummy stuff I will! And good luck to DD!
re: neighbors: let's all move to Arizona and start our own community!
SharLamb pm's me how beautiful Sedona is... can we move there???

Nancy- we have sun here too (for now!)
ITA about CC's. I think that they have gotten such a bad rap that only the kids that couldn't get into "real" 4 year colleges went there. But I was really liking what I saw.

Angela- so happy that you and the kids had a great day!! Fab news about the speech too :)

Laurie- I think I'd feel lost in all of that "flat" LOL Hope you don't have to pay too much in taxes this year.

Nana is a COOL grandma!! What a fun day. I loooved going to visit with my one Grandma b/c we always did fun stuff with her. My other grandma disliked me and she was not fun to visit. I wish you all were my neighbors too.

Linda S- that is such a special gift one I am sure that your cousin will treasure.
As I told her, I have always wanted to be cool...and finally got there at 55!
I bet you were always cool but isn't a bit of validation nice?

Kristi -- feel better!! Try to relax as much as you can. hugs!

Oh Chris, you aren't the New Jersey winner of the big PowerBall jackpot are you? If you are, I want to do a CheeryO reunion.
I wish I was, on sooo many levels!!!!!!!

Phyllis- I would give you some of my go-to recipes if I had any. I am inthe same damn boat as you with food. I did go to Trader Joes yesterday, my brother gave me a gift card and I figured it was a good time to use it. I bought a bag of frozen mandarin chicken and some chicken wontons. I am going to make white rice and throw the won tons in some broth with some sliced onions. Hope that someone, anyone likes it cuz that is what dinner is tonight.

Do you like alfedo sauce? I bouth 2 jars of bertoli alfredo when they were on sale. I jazzed on up with some onions and bacon for a simple carbonara style sauce. the other one I added some blue cheese my mom had given me and I added that and some walnuts to it. Both over linguine. Oh drat- you can eat pasta :(
Sorry :(

Morning sweet "O" ladies!! Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!! It will be low key here with cleaning the bathrooms and then hopefully power washing the deck and helping MG get the patio furniture up onto it. :) Plants are all starting to bloom and my Camellia already has some blossoms on it. :sorry: for those of you who are still in winters grip!! You never know we could still get a blast of winter here too, it is only March!!

I am off to get some more coffee and hope to return here after some breakfast and catch up with all of you!! TTYL!!

Chris, i can eat Dreamfields Pasta, which is regular pasta that is treated somehow so that you don't get the big carb shock from it. that stuff saved my life! i hadn't eaten any pasta for 5 years before i discovered Dreamfields. the Alfredo thing sounds yummy, but i always remember Ralph Nader's Center for Science in the Public Interest calling Alfredo sauce and pasta " a heart attack on a plate." that scared me off of Alfredo! i also can't eat more than one wonton, so that is a bummer, and i imagine that Mandarin Chicken is sweet? see what thinking about food is like for me?? i'm SOOOOOOO tired of it. last night i made roast chicken, mash, stuffing and broccoli for dinner...and ate chicken and broccoli while watching Hubby chow down on the other GOOD stuff! thinking today about doing my Korean dinner. bulgogi, mandu ( just one for me, 'cause they are a bit like wontons) real rice for Hubby, cauliflower rice for me. i want a COOK! so tired of having to think about food.

re:Sedona. i doubt any of us could afford to live there!

Trudy!!! patio furniture?? i can't even imagine it! the spring flowers around here have had enough sense so far to remain underground.
