Daily Ooo's Weekend edition December 21 & 22!

First day of winter and we have flood warning- between melting snow - all 4 inches of it, and the massive rain, well, yup the field ditch was full yesterday and I will have to wait for the daylight to see where it is today. I need to wrap gifts and perhaps run to town to buy some yarn to make a gift for my son's girlfriend. Perhaps some family/friend Christmas card making now that my O cards are done- priorities you know!!

What are you full of this weekend- if it is travel,be safe!
 
GoOd morning Laurie and everyone. I have been out of bed since 6.30 but have been sipping coffee and reading some news.

I have another busy day ahead but I am happy that we will be having warm weather here too. I hope all of this snow melts!

good morning! It is already 54 degrees. And tomorrow it may get to 69 degrees so yes Chris I think our snow is going to melt YEA! As you know I am going to the outdoor game between the Devils and the Rangers. I was able to get 4 tickets from the Devils as a season ticket holder but I still needed two more. Well I was able to get 2 from the Rangers. So this week each organization mailed out the tickets. What a difference between the two organizations. The Devils sent me the tickets and said thanks. The Rangers sent the tickets plus 2 hats and 2 scarfs. The hats and scarfs are reversible and have the Stadium series logo on them. Shame on my Devils! Not only that but yesterday was a season ticket holder give away. They gave one yes one scarf for each two tickets. Now I ask what do they want to do cause fights between seats holders to see who gets the scarf or do they expect us to wrap the scarf around us both. LOL. My youngest son was blown away and now sees why Ranger fans are Ranger fans. They are too nice to just toss but I will feel terrible if I was to wear them. I may just give them to friends who are Ranger fans. But I really like them. OH such problems LOL. My team lost last night in OT but it was still a really good game against the Ducks which are a really great team. So getting a point is a real good thing for my team. Got in a good walk. So a good day!
Today is just to watch hockey and scrap!

Laurie hope the weather does not do any harm. Hope your voice gradually comes back. How cool to be able to knit a scarf in 2 days.

Chris the snow is going to melt.

Trudy I know we women wake up and are minds just do not shut off. But I never hear men having this problem. Have fun with your family and I sure what ever is made for dinner it will be scrumptious!

We're having a heat wave, I hate it!!! We need rain!!!!

I'm supposed to be cleaning the house and/or working, but I keep getting distracted by penguins ;) My best friend is moving to the bay area after Christmas, so tomorrow is our last big day to just hang out!
 
Oh Meg- just grab a giant something- to fill with rainwater- we have so much here already that even the main roads are flooding and the majority of rain is scheduled to come overnight. Yikes- not sure we will make church- too many places where the roads will likely be flooded.
 
Rats- overnight heavy rains wake up to 3-4 inches of water above the new flooring- so if I am missing- I am dragging everything out- again and seeing what can be saved. I am sure the floor and walls will need to go- and we are having more rain today- ughhhhh
 
Oh no, Laurie, that is awful!!!!!! And you just finished it all so beautifully. :(
I hope that you can salvage it all.
We are supposed to get rain here too, but not as bad as you. I think my area's biggest concern will be the fog as the warm rain and the snow we still have left will make a mess of the air.

I am pretty much done with all of my baking and presents. I made two more batches of cookies yesterday. My peanut butter crumb bars-- destroyed. No idea what happened to them but they all stuck to the bottom of the pan and when I tried to get them out the top layers all separated. I have been making these for years and years, and never had this happen.
But the good news is that I made Trudy's Nanaimo bars and they came out great!!! Scott had a bite and said that it was like he died and went to heaven and then came back for more.
Thank you Trudy for sharing your recipe! BTW-- how do you pronounce the name?

Today is clean clean clean. In one way I am looking "forward" to it. I mentally cannot handle having stuff shoved in every corner and on every flat surface and that is pretty much how my house looks.I want to get everything put away so I don't have to look at any of it!

good morning - Yesterday was a wonderful day as the weather cleared and the temperature was way above normal. Hard to believe for the first day of winter but the best is now that that day is behind me I know the sunlight will be increasing so that makes me so happy! Also got in a good walk with my girlfriend downtown. The sun was out so it was really warm walking. But the best was my Devils won 5-4 in OT over the Capitals. It was a great come back game as my team was down 3-1 and then 4-2 but they never gave up and just 43 seconds into the OT they score. So for one day my team is in 3rd place and would make the play offs. LOL. There is still a whole half of the season still to go. But it was a great game none the less. My poor husband was getting his houses out of the crawl space and the cat tried to get in. He was scary the cat away and rammed the top of his head into the fuse box and dug a deep gouge into his scalp. And talk about blood. WOW. But we put ice on it and other than a head ache he is fine. This has not been a good year for him and injuries. Today will just be a calm day. Cloudy with rain.

Laurie I am so sorry about your flooding! We have been there and it is no fun. Hope the flooring dries out and is savable! Good luck with everything

Chris bummer the cookies did not work out. But glad Trudy's bars turned out well. I am going to do my cleaning tomorrow because if I do it today it will just be messed up by Christmas.

Missadventures have a great time with your friend. It is hard to have friends move away.

oh, well. Christmas has been totally torpedoed. The Grandmen are really sick and now my daughter has the flu. so, no going to Christmas with the Grandmen. whatever this stomach thing is has kept me from eating more than a few bites for four days, so i'm not exactly in the Holiday mood. :hurt: oh, well. the best laid plans. so Hubby is driving down to deliver the presents tomorrow without me. soon we'll have a new Grandperson, though, so hopefully everyone will be in good shape by then. it could happen at any minute.

Laurie, i can't believe all that damage! hugs to you, and hope it turns out not to be as bad as you thought.

it's my giggle of the day. what a vivid imagination could do with that sentence is just too much fun!

Chris, all our snow is gone, and now it's 60- some degrees. but now it's supposed to snow on Christmas Eve. i swear the Weatherguys are just saying that to be cute.

Trudy, hope you're having a ball with your Grandpeople!

Nancy, the Rangers scarf story cracked me up. and NO, you CANNOT wear ANY Rangers gear!! so don't even think about it!

off to my recliner with my heating pad. :faint2:
 
Good afternoon ladies, yes the best laid plans..... Well I am one unhappy Grandma as the flight that my babies were to be on has been delayed. So now grand people yet and no word as to when they will finally arrive!! Last txt I got from my son was at 1:30am saying that they were in Edmonton and the plane that they were waiting for should be there around 4am. But still no update from them, now I am really worried and here we sit with everything ready to go and no people to celebrate with http://emoticoner.com/files/emoticons/smileys/gaah-smiley.gif?1292867601.

Laurie - Oh my gosh how horrible for you and after all the work that you did to make it so beautiful....Merry Christmas??? :hug: I bet you could use a good drink right about now!!

Nancy - Glad that you had such great weather and you had a wonderful hockey day! Ouch for the your poor hubby, that's gotta smart!!!

Phylis - Sounds like your Christmas plans are not going well either! I am so sorry that you are not going to see your grandmen, but how exciting to have a new member of the family arriving very soon! The weather and our health really do get in the way of our best laid plans!! :hug: to you my friend, I hope that you will feel better soon and that your Christmas is not totally ruined!! :hurt: it's not fair!!!!!!!!!

I am not the most patient person in world, so this is very hard for me!! I just hope that they are all ok and are finally on their way here! Try to have a good day everyone!! :wave:
 
oh, NO, Trudy!!! i was wondering whether their flight would be interrupted by the terrible weather!! i hope by the time you read this that they're all safe and sound at your house. i can never understand why The Weather Gods save their WORST for holidays!! :rant:
 
So my house is a shambles, because I had to bring much stuff from the basement up to the upstairs. I am exhausted, I know I have lots of stuff that I will have to throw away-good news for 135 dollars they will take the trash, including the laminate flooring, and the cabinets that are not going to survive round two of flooding- way more water this time. I am truly going to purge stuff- way more than before. I am going to remember what it is like to carry the stuff up and down stairs. I am thinking that I want off the floor wall cabinets. Plus I want the scrap room done first, not last. Okay rant done. Now off to drink a gallon of water and then a good stiff drink- rum chata and bourbon. Maybe I should shower first.
