I am back and I didn't duct-tape my parents' mouths shut once! Are ya proud of me?
They were actually pretty good, I only had to scold them a few times. LOL!

I feel like I have been gone for weeks, a lot of stuff got crammed into a few days. I had to go back to my last post on Sunday to catch up with myself. heh. I did log in on my phone every day to check on Marley but I wasn't able to read more than that. How kids these days do everything on their phones amazes me. Of course, they don't have old people vision :glowskull:
I was really relieved to hear that Marley was holding her own especially since Otter took a turn for the worse before I left on Sunday morning. I spent most of the morning with her and Caitlyn snuggling her. Cait called me soon after I got to PA that she had died. We video-called when they buried her so I was sort of there with her. It wasn't a surprise, we knew the cortisone was temporary but still. And my heart was with Scott and Sam, it was a rough time for her and the family. Not easy to be away from them.

My dad and I talked the entire day on Sunday, from 11 a.m. when we left here until almost 9 at night. I think my mom was a little put off because she had no interest in what we were talking about. Which was kind of everything under the sun. *G* It's the strangest thing that my brother and my mom say that he isn't "all there." I have a theory and it isn't that nice. I think he is bored by my mom and tunes her out. I love her dearly but she only talks about her health/meds/sodium and potassium in her diet. I love him dearly and I think he could be much nicer to her and vice-versa. But I'll tell ya, for someone who is almost 85, he is sharp as a tack. I painted their new door and it looks very nice (in spite of the two small places that I missed, no one can see it but me but *I* know they are there haha!). I spread some pea gravel and wood chips. I had to stop both of those projects because he was insisting on helping me. I get it, he needs to feel useful but shoveling rocks into a wheelbarrow? C'mon, man! Sheesh! There has to be some middle ground for him.

I have a lot of catching up to do around home and around the O. Scott is coming home from another camping trip so I have to start my laundry ASAP.
Big hugs to everyone!

Good Morning!
I'm early today as Ilene and I are going to be busy visiting with Carolyn this morning and then heading to Olive Garden for lunch and then going to the COSTCO near there. Not much planned other than that. Ilene has a hair appointment at 3, so I will not be visiting with her for long after our errands. She also needs to go to Sally's Beauty while we are out, so we will be all over the place today!
BLT's are what's for supper before church tonight!
Today I am thankful that I feel pretty good and get to visit with my close friends, who I am VERY thankful for!
Have a great day!

@LSlycord I hope the weather continues to be cooler for you.
Poor Syd! I hope that she feels better. I heard that Covid is making its rounds in schools, is it possible that she has that? Isn't Facetime the best when the kids are away?

@vickyday How is your stomach today? Hope it is better and that you were able to do everything you needed to do yesterday.

@taxed4ever I bet you are right about parents doing the happy dance for back to school. Enjoy the hike today! I guess it has been a while since you went on one. I am pretty sure that you haven't been lazy, I don't think you know how. LOL!!!
It makes sense to focus on kayaking over swimming, for the time being, it's going to get cold on the water faster than we like.
I missed what is up with your arm and wrist, hope it isn't bothering you too much, and if it is-- yes, get it checked out.

@Cherylndesigns What sweet photos of Ava and Marley. I am hoping that you get good news soon. It is a *really* good sign that she was happy to see Ava.
A long time ago (I was pg with Scott) my cat, Ziggy, had a really complicated and severe UTI/urinary stones. He had to be at the vet for almost a week for treatment. The office let me come in to visit him right before they closed every day. The first few times, he couldn't have cared less to see me. Then one night, he must have heard me come into the waiting room because he started meowing up a storm. The tech told me that was a great sign that he was turning the corner and sure enough, he did. I am really hopeful that Miss Marley does the same ♥

Man!! I was hoping my trip away would have stayed under @tanteva radar!! :floorlaugh:
Better get my :mopping: and start cleaning up her

hugs!

So sad to hear about Otter. Hope Caitlyn is doing OK.
I hear ya about all the kids doing everything on their phones! My eyes won't allow it for very long at all!
Your mom and dad sound a lot like my mom and dad were.......always fussing at one another! But, when push came to shove and mom had Alzheimer's dad was right there for her every step of the way through that dreaded disease! They would have been married 50 years the year dad died.

Good morning. Quick in and out for me this morning.

Welcome back to my very favorite @faerywings :fairy1:. Sounds like your time away was good. Sorry about Otter...I know that it is hard to be away from kids when something bad happens. But I'm very glad that your folks behaved and you had such a good time with your dad.

Sydney is feeling better so I don't think it was Covid. I kept having her take her temperature but she didn't have one so I wasn't too worried about Covid, although I had heard that it is making the rounds at the colleges too. The professors at UF are telling the kids to come to class with it if they want to.

Shaun is getting back into the swing of things on classes. Both classes have quite a bit of homework because they are compressed into half the semester so he takes two classes through for 8 weeks and then takes two other classes for the last 8 weeks of the semester.

Good morning @vickyday. Enjoy your lunch at OG and your time at Costco.

@taxed4ever I love that kayak contraption. That is such a great idea! That would increase my confidence in kayaking immensely.

Ok...back to work. Talk to you all later.

Heading out to pick my favorite Ilene up to head to see Carolyn!

Well, I got my dates mixed up... and thought yesterday morning was my Dad's birthday and posted about it on FB... it was actually today!!! Good thing that I got it figured out in the afternoon as I have a doctor's appointment this morning. DD#3 is bringing her hubby down for his Ortho appointment at the same time same hospital. They will pick up some fast food for them for lunch and come over to my house so we can visit after those appointments.

After looking through a lot of the family photos, I decided yesterday that I would put my hair on rollers as I liked how it looked in the photos. Well.... hands and arms DID NOT LIKE doing that. Too much with the arms lifted up and hands rebelled about 3/4 of the way through. But, I persisted and got the rollers in. The style is similar to the one in my avatar... but the hair is gray and thinner. Will be going back to my wash'n'wear style.

Sorry I missed posting here yesterday... somehow the day got away from me. At least I did get a Challenge LO done and posted.

Morning ladies... I am off to my hike this morning, but wanted to pop in to say hello to all of you! :wavinghello:. I actually got a layout done yesterday, it took me all friggin day, but I did it. Now I need to get started on the challenges as this page was just for fun and is page one of two about the anniversary party. I hope to do a bit more journaling for the second page. I just didn't have it in me for the first one. My arm was way to sore and its hard to type when your wrist is in a brace! The hardest part was trying to decide what products I wanted to use LOL. I spent half my day looking through all of the gorgeous goodies in the shop LOL.

@faerywings - So glad that you had a great time with your parents! Sorry to hear about Otter and hope Caitlyn is dealing with the loss ok! Yes I think that is why my in-laws sometime bicker too, they are totally bored with each other. Sad, but true! Sounds like you got lots done for your parents, too funny that your Dad kept trying to help, my FIL would have been the same. Did Scott ever find his wallet? sure hope so!

@vickyday - Have fun with the ladies today! Still jealous that you have an Olive Garden to go to, we have none :sad1:. Hope your Costco shopping trip goes well also!

@tanteva - Hope you did not leave too many ketchup spills for Chris to clean up LOL.

@LSlycord - Glad to hear that Syd is better and that Shaun is getting into the swing of things with school.

@BrightEyes - That is funny that you tried to put your hair up in rollers, bet your arms and hands were not happy with you!! I don't think I cold that either!! I think its a good idea to keep your wash n' wear style!! Hope you have a great visit with your DD#3 and her hubby this afternoon!

Ok I better get my backpack ready to go and get outta here! Have a great day everyone! :bye2:

Good afternoon. Chris @faerywings I'm so glad you're back and that it went fairly well with your parents glad you didn't have to use your duct tape. I'm SO sorry about little Otter. It's SO hard to lose any pet.

Girls, sorry I've been quiet - I've been burying myself in scrapping today. We got bad news last night Marley does have cancer - it's in her bone marrow - I told you that they had done a lot of tests and some of them wouldn't be back for a few weeks. They said she did NOT have cancer, but now they say she does. We're all understandably devastated. I haven't been able to think of much else today. They're going to Tulsa to pick her up and have a conference with the doctors there. What they're planning on doing is having her euthanized at home. There's an organization of vets called "Laps of Love" and they come to your home, when it's the arranged time, and put the dog to sleep in it's surroundings. They do everything - if you want your pet cremated, they take care of that. It's a pretty amazing thing - I read all about it online last night. SO, sadder days are coming. It will all depend o how well lthey can take care of Marley at home as to when they'll make the final call.

Anyway, I'll know more after they get Marley home and settled tonight. Thank you ALL for your love, support and doggie prayers. You're all the best!!:hug4::hug2::grouphugyay:

Thanks so much, Kay. There are some in Tulsa and we're lucky to have this organization near us. It was started by two women vets in Tampa Florida and has grown so much. I think it's a wonderful organization and will definitely use them when our Daisy's time comes, which I can't even bear to think about right now.

I am finally back home with lots of errands done.

1... I am now the owner of a brand new Motorola 5G 2023... dance4:strawberry: Love it as has a built-in stylus!!! Whoo-whee!!! And I changed my provider. The new one is in the process of transferring data from my old phone to my new one. Once that is done - the old service will quit. And to make the deal even sweeter - I am getting Netfix and a couple of other bennies from the new provider! I can't talk enough about how wonderful the service gal was... so patient and explaining the different options.
2... Dropped by and got my car insurance and house insurance bills paid.
3... Stopped at the car dealership and got the correct word about when the car needs servicing, etc... 1 year or 75,000 miles. As the mileage on it is just over 600 miles since Jan this year... we will ignore the mileage and go with time. Got my appointment set up for the end of Jan 2024.
4... Then stopped by CVS Pharmacy and got my annual flu shot... Also found out that they need a prescription for me to get the RSV shot. They also only get 1 manufacturer and the doctor has to put that on the Rx. I will wait 2 weeks between the flu and RSV shots. They are not expecting the new Covid booster until Oct or Nov. Good thing I am seeing my primary care doc next week so she can order the RSV shot.
5... And stopped and picked up the mail.

Not sure what I am going to fix for supper but it will probably will be a frozen meal from the freezer.

Then I will sit in the recliner and read... and probably fall asleep. Early night to bed for sure!

Thanks so much, Linda. We're all so sad. Adrienne just brought Lila down here for the weekend so they could love on Marley w/o Lila getting jealous. You can tell Marley is weak - she just laid on our floor - it's so heartbreaking to see her like this.

Thanks so much, Kay. There are a few of them in the Tulsa area, thankfully. It's such a wonderful service. If I answered you - just chalk it up to the fact that I'm pretty brain dead right now. My DD is losing is and crying all the time and I'm about to lose it too and it's not even my dog. It's just SO sad. :(
